in a couple of my pics you can see little hooks...i found i could weight the stem down in some cases as oppossed to tying them down, this worked great because tying and untying can be cumbersum and i didn't want to damage anything. my "set up" was pretty basic...i picked up a 2 tube...

instead of painting you can go to any hardware store like Home Depot or something and buy the plastic covers that they put over flourescent lighting fixtures. They come in 2 X 2 by 4 pieces and you can cut them to whatever size you want. You can then tape them to your walls with duct tape...
