what about leaving hps on for 18 hrs to continue veg?

what about using hps for veg at 18 hours on would that work better/faster...Im not seeing very much growth with flourescent.

got a question...if plants are small (like two weeks old maybe 5 inches) could i possibly use a hps 1000 watt on 12 hour cycle soon? Maybe next week? would the plants produce alot less? or just a little less?
