yeah... go to your local hydroponics shop and get some potting soil there. I used MG and hated it. Switched over to an organic potting soil that has all sorts of stuff like guano, worm castings, fish bone, etc. Working wonders.
put a fan on em'. It'll simulate wind and tell the plant to start building a stronger stem. I have mine on when the lights are on at all times, their stems are solid.
I think the problem was heat related. The plant is doing a lot better now, even with the two leaves trimmed off. It was a closet operation, the temperature sometimes reached nearly 90 degrees. I moved the plants into my basement where it's on average 72 degrees.
My grow box is made out of an...
I ended up cutting those two bottom fan leaves that were turning yellow. Is it safe to cut off just the brown tip of one of the upper leaves, or will that send it into shock / stunt growth?
Thanks for all the help thus far
Noticed awhile back that my eldest plant had a burnt tip. I thought it might be a light burn so i moved her a little further away from the light, but now 2 other leaves have brown tips, and one of the first sets of leaves is turning light green / yellow, and feels dry. Temperature is about 82°F...
I took the pics away from the lights. They're about an inch away. I let the fan run about 10 hrs a day, and I also push them over a few times a day to help out as well. The older girl's stalk is pretty stiff it seems.
I wasn't sure if it was the clay pots or the medium that was drying out...

She's about a two weeks old - i set up new cfl's and didn't notice that she was about a 1/4" away. I came back about 2 hours later and the cfl had burnt one of her cotyledon's, one of the first leaves that comes in and half of the second set. This was about 5 days ago.
I moved her away from...
I would say several small cfl's. If you have just one big cfl and you have a plant that has a bunch of fan leaves, that one cfl isn't going to hit all of the plant. Positioning several cfl's closely around the plant would be much better.
I have 6 100 watt equivalent @ 6500k cfls with 3...
she looks healthy thus far - later on you're gonna need more lights though especially since you're goin cfl's. what watt is it? what soil are you using?
If your local hydro store doesn't have foxfarm, I'd look for something similar contents-wise. FoxFarm doesn't contain any NPK (from what I've read) so using grow big with a medium that has NPK could cause a nute burn.
Based on what I've read, yes. You would switch from grow big to big bloom...
You might read up on FoxFarm's Ocean Forest potting soil with FoxFarm's Grow Big (6-4-4) for veg growth. I've heard good things and I'm about to try it out myself.
