At the top of my list, for my selection process
1. Vigor
2. Overall plant and bud structure
3. Fruity terp profile
Im breeding this strain with one specific goal. It must do well outdoors in this pnw climate.
There is still a lot of genetic diversity in the Valley Ice. The MTF genes has a lot...
What exactly are you referring to? Are you implying that the runts and weak plants often turn out to be females? If so, I still wouldn't select them for breeding.
Its an interesting thought. I wonder if the male count will be higher than normal? Only time will tell.
Ive plucked the runts and weak looking seedlings. Its down to 52 plants. One plant in particular clearly has strong sativa genetics. Its lanky and tall, with thin long blades.
@Loudpack516
What are you feeding the plant and how often? Ive seen some of my plants do a similar thing when the nutrients in the soil are basically used up. I usually top dress the soil and give the plant 4-5 days before I mess around with anything else.
My last indoor crop, I tested the deep purple Valley Ice (sativa dominant) pheno. It ended up throwing sterile bananas, and I still dont know why. What I do know is that the same cut didn't do that when I grew it in the greenhouse last year.

The effects are pretty sweet. Its an...
Start a breeding project with a clear goal. This has helped me chuck a lot of the seeds I recently aquired. Im keeping
MTF
SFV OG
SSH
Oaxacan
Malawi
Just these 5 strains will produce virtually an endless amount of variation. I can also be more generous in popping seeds, and very...
Its probably genetics. Ive noticed something interesting about slow growing plants. If you take a healthy clone from it, sometimes the clone will grow faster than the original plant.
