To Rollitup: Why no LED sub-forum?

I would also like to see a seperate LED forum. It would allow us to do a really good comparison and put it all in one area because at the moment the LED stuff is scattered across the net and a lot of it is superficial. From what i've seen LED's at the moment don't offer great power savings...

    Mylar Reflector?

It would be easy enough to protect the wood from such things. But if need be i'll find a more appropriate material. Just looking to cut some costs :)

    Mylar Reflector?

Wood has a flashpoint of 300 degrees C so it would be perfectly safe to use as a backing material. The plastic the mylar is backed on would be the worrying issue. I guess i'll just have to experiment :) Thanks.

    Mylar Reflector?

Ok great so it would work if carefully glued to some wooden panels, if i understood you correctly. I do have a lux meter to measure the output i was just concerned it might melt or something.

    Mylar Reflector?

If mylar is cheap to a consumer then it's cheaper to a company that buys vast quantities of it. However lets get back to the point, forget mass manufacturing for the moment. I have some flexible wooden panels which could be formed into the perfect shape for a reflector. If i coat these with...

    Mylar Reflector?

To be clear i don't mean using it for the walls. Could it be used on a reflector that is hanging close to a sodium lamp? There must bea reason that most conpamies used hammered aluminium in their reflectors.

    Mylar Reflector?

I know aluminium is used alot of the time for reflectors, but can you use mylar? I know it reflects an enormous amount of light so why isn't it used more often? Thanks.

    Heat Output of Lights

Does anyone know how much heat the various lamps output? For example if an object were placed 1 cm away from an object, how hot would that object get? I am asking this as i intend to build my own water cooled lighting. And yeah i know some people will tell me not to but i have plenty of...

    Bubbleponic Root Question

Thanks tip top that's a really great help, you've made it much clearer :)

    Bubbleponic Root Question

No i didn't do it by accident, it was a question before beginning the grow. The oxygen has to get to the roots as the plant uses it to break down sugars, at least that is what i understand about plants. The reason i wanted to keep them submerged is simply because it would be easier than...

    Bubbleponic Root Question

When using a Bubbleponic system i have seen people saying you need to keep the water level just below the roots. However i have to ask, can you keep the roots submergered if you pump enough air through? I mean if you have the water being pumped with so much air it violently foams then will there...

UK Growing: Power Problems, Box Trips

I posted another thread about this but i couldn't respond to it for some reason (each post needing moderator review), hopefully that won't happen here. Ok so i'm in the UK and have a major problem with the electric box tripping. When i have around 3.5 kw of stuff plugged in the box trips and...

    Sog vs Full size

I thought that full adult plants coupld produce up to 1 pound or at least half a pound each. Is this incorrect?

UK - Power Problem, Box Trips, Overloading?

I tried replying but it said a mod needs to vet it and after a day i see no post so trying again :) I do use relays but that isn't the issue, it just trips out at the mains box and i can't figure out a way to stop it. I know a UK circuit can take around 3kw of power before it gets a little...
