I am using ultra cheap pink "full spectrum" COBs as an experiment right now, I don't know if I can personally recommend them over 3000k - 3500k Warm White, which is the gold standard for flowering. Waiting for harvest to determine total effectiveness.
So far that young gorilla bomb plant looks...
6 days later and there's a dramatic improvement:
I think she's gonna fill in nicely.
I took this photo through some protective glasses so it's not so blindingly pink
That's looking real nice, there's a bit of frost on my plants but not to any real notable level. I'll take some color adjusted photos tonight, maybe I need to check them again under regular light, they are painful to look at so purple
haha ah crap that is pretty confusing and cryptic isn't it.
I was trying to imply the 26th day of flowering without making my title too long. My actual environment temp just happens to be 27c though. 27 doesn't even register as an indoor temperature to me in 'murican units.
That's not a bad...
Thanks for the input, puts my mind a little at ease. I was feeling a bit worried after someone else posted their "3 weeks flowering" photos and the buds looked nearly finished! I think some people don't start counting flowering days until they actually see flowers whereas I start on day 1 of 12/12
It's looking good to me! Like the others have said, new pistil growth is bud growth and it's a good sign as she's still packing on the weight!
Though at the end of the grow if you're still seeing new pistils at the tops then the buds are probably foxtailing, which is not a bad thing, it will...
Hey guys, long time no grow. Just to make things harder for myself I am doing everything completely different than my old methods. Time and these new tricks has made me feel a bit rusty.
Here's a photo of my Gorilla Bomb, in the photo she's at day 26 flowering and 61 from seed.
The main colas...
I should also add, the reason theorized for the increased yield is not due to the plant's inability of efficiently utilizing the blue spectrum, but because at around the 10% blue level the plant responds by growing more leaves/foliage which increase the area which light can be photosynthesized...
I've thought about building a spectrometer similar to that one.
Thanks for the knowledge :D That does appear to be the spectrum they are claiming. Though I think, and I hope that my red:blue ratio isn't really 70% red / 25% blue. From my simple understanding this ratio may produce undesirable...
I have tried to find a datasheet for these but I can't find shit. I don't know if they kept the same part number but I wouldn't put it past them, there are definitely electronically matched 1 watt diodes in there.
I am purposely avoiding using the white spectrum, even though this pink is...
You should have seen the look on my face when each individual diode lit evenly at actually 1 watt each at full power. They have come a very long way indeed. I built my lights out of old computer heatsinks and a 3d printed frame so they cost me $10 out of pocket each, an extra $5 if I have to...
They're cheap ~$5 70 watt "full spectrum" pink COB chips. They are of a different construction I have never seen before on an aluminum substrate. Definitely not the same as the old style cheapo COBs. My batch have very good electrical characteristics and the individual chips on all of my COBs...
