makes it harder to grow how?

about how big should a plant be around day 12? mine is about 6.5" wide from tip to tip at the second set of true leaves, it's about 2.5" tall and has about 4 sets of true leaves though they're not done growing/forming. should it be putting off a smell so early? cuz i can smell it when i sniff...
