That's what I thought too. Pics of gnats were much more slender with tiny legs. Thanks.

Almost thinking they're fruit flies! But doesn't look like a fungus gnat, correct?

I have a small grow tent I use for early veg. I noticed there were a few insects in there today. I assumed the were fungus gnats. But, I managed to kill one without smashing it and it has "serrated" back legs. All the pics of fungus gnats I've found are slimmer with tiny legs. Any ideas?

I googled the hell out of it this morning as well. It does seem that some people claim MH runs hotter but most say the opposite. I'm a newbie so I was going off the general consensus that the HPS would emit more heat. I did raise the light 4" to not shock the plants as much. But I'm running...

So...I switched over to the HPS this morning and so far the temps are LOWER than with the MH.

Yeah it seems that the carbon filter cuts the CMF in half! I may have to step up to an 8".

4 weeks into my second grow and I moved up to a bigger tent and 1000w lights. Been running a 1000W MH for vegetation and I am ready to switch to a 1000W HPS for flower. But, my temps are higher than I would like for the MH bulb and I know the HPS will run hotter. The only way I can keep the...

Jeweler loupe came today and all the trichomes are still very clear. So hopefully I have another 2-3 weeks. :cool:

It is a magnetic ballast and I am pretty sure it's a Phillips bulb. My plants have been very healthy and there is very little heat with this bulb, which was good with my small tent. Just hoping I see some growth on the home stretch. :cool:

I'm hoping you're right . I was just getting concerned being that many days into flower. I'm more than happy to wait.:cool:

Thanks for all of the replies. I think one mistake I made was not bringing enough fresh air into the tent? Hoping I still have 2-3 weeks and they can pack on some size. :hump:

If I have several weeks left I may be satisfied for my first grow. My magnifying glass will be here Thursday to inspect closer. I have not tried any additional PK boost, etc.

I have a 400W HPS and I believe that is the highest wattage my ballast can handle. I tried it just before flower and I couldn't keep the heat down without moving a lot of air(pretty small tent). Moving more air helped but the my humidity plummeted and the temps were still a little high...
