    T5 question

That's only 48 watts to cover 8 square feet. It doesn't matter what kind of light you use, 48 watts is nowhere near enough to cover that footprint. T5's need to be packed in pretty tight over the entire grow space somewhere around 2 inches apart to get really good results from them for either...

Any Existing Evidence that Clones upon Clones Degrade Yield or Quality?

This post in itself illustrates both the possibility of genetic drift and also the unlikeliness of genetic drift in a properly controlled environment. As i had posted previously in this thread, any new growth on a plant is a copy of old growth, and anything we do to disrupt the copy process...

    t-5 vs 1000w mh

You're talking 200w of T5 vs. 1000w of MH. My vote goes to the MH. That being said, I feel that if you had equal wattage the T5 would likely give more desirable results.

    Grow boxes!

A bit too high for soil and most hydro setups, but you could get away with it in DWC.

    T5 light spectrum question

What most people do not realize when speaking in terms of color temperature(6500k, 2700k, etc.) is that these bulbs are NOT monochromatic. Under a spectroscope, a 6500k and 2700k bulb look strikingly similar, with each having a red, green, and blue peak. The difference between the two is which...

Way to tell gender before flowering?

Who knows. These plants never fail to amaze me. I was just throwing in some observation-based input that was off track from OP's original question anyway.

Way to tell gender before flowering?

I have gotten revegged plants to return to paired nodes, but this can't mean i have un-matured the plant. Sex organs are the only real sign of sexual maturity.

Way to tell gender before flowering?

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. How many plants do you know that live in 24 hour light in nature? We're not forcing flowering with 12/12, we're delaying it with 24. The plant wants to flower as soon as it is capable of doing so. You cant flower an immature plant at all. it's like...

    Bonsai

This may be a PS, but there are enough pics of fully flowered plants under 12" on here that a quick search shows this could absolutely be possible with just a bit of planning. Look up the shot-glass or party-cup challenges and just imagine if they were going for shape instead of size.

anyone use rain water for indoor grow?

Rain is of course free and naturally occurring, so it would seem a great resource for any grower. Rain does have some dissolved carbon dioxide, which makes it slightly acidic with some buffering capacity as well, so I would just check pH after mixing nutrients to make sure it doesn't drop too low.

what kind of bug is this?

Those things are extremely efficient predators, and I can't find any information confirming that they will bite humans. If you have house centipedes then you must have plenty of other creepy-crawlies nearby, so it might be worth keeping around.

    MFGB: My First Grow Box

Howdy, one of my boxes is nearly the same size as yours so I figured I would toss a few ideas to consider in your planning. It's made out of cheap OSB, the bottom section is 34x16x27 and contains the plants, pots, and lights. The top is 5 inches and houses the fans, ballasts, and carbon...

    importance of fan leaves

I remove all of my fan leaves..... at harvest time. Anything sooner than that, and you are limiting the plant's ability to synthesize it's food. Leaves don't use up precious energy, they provide it. And leaves don't block light, they absorb it to produce that energy. If a leaf is...

Can a plant be ripe and still have white pistils?????????????

It might be a 50/50 strain, but AO is known to produce several phenotypes. You seem to have a more sativa expression. Looks good, I am also of the opinion that it could go a bit longer. You certainly have enough to try a bit and see for yourself, and no harm will come from leaving it alive long...

Any Existing Evidence that Clones upon Clones Degrade Yield or Quality?

My reply is based on nothing but logic. clones are copies of plants, but on a smaller scale, they are made of cells that are copies of cells. Each time these cells replicate, the chance of mutation exists which would result in a permanent alteration of the genetics in that cell and all those...
