if they are like micro-fleas that you only really see when you water, they jump like fleas to avoid the water or if you blow them gently they will jump up. If you have springtails dont worry. They are little garbage collectors. Nothing to worry about.

Excellent answer. I believe topping is an indoor requirement that serves only to control height. You can only push what the plant will genetically be able to do. Topping splits up the same yield.
