just a question, what are the rocks for on the top of the soil?

there 6500 k . blueish type lights. if i wanted to change to 20/4, would i have to do it over a period of time? i would rather just not risk the chance of turning hermie with keeping them under 24/0 light.

i just put two rooted clones in their pots under 6 26 watt cfls's and there doing fine but i did some research and decided to switch over to 24/0 to get fast vigerous growth to train and make them short and bushy. i only bought them 4 days ago from a club. will this change in the light cycle...
