also the lights are on all the time, if i switch to a 18/6 should i have any issues?

i have a couple sprouts at the moment relaxing under just a couple florescent tubes, 17 watt each. i just purchased a 250-400w ajustible ballast, 400w mh and a reflector. would the change to my plants be too much for the moment? being they are not quite a week old yet?

Thanks guys, also should you run them on the higher or lower set of volts?

what im asking is will a 400 and a 600 use up the same amount of power as a 1000 over an identical period of time? and if so do you think they would be more effective and possibly able to cover more space?
