I had a similar problem, as I'm using fox farm nuits and found that a had a N def. so I added a 1/4 strength of my grow big wich had a higher N content and it seemed to bounce back a little. I'm no expert as I'm still learning but the info I've gathered through this site and a book I've picked...

Ask your carpenter buddie to build you a closet in your home office, materials would be cheap. I've got kids as well and decided to build a closet in the laundry room (they definitely don't do their laundry) it worked out great. With a door that locks gives me peace of mind.
My wothless opinion would be stick with the hps and try to get the temps down, I was happier with the end result of my hps dense and healthy buds. I still keep the t5s for veg.

I just picked up a A/C unit and installed it trying to keep the room at a steady temp, I've got a 600watt HPS and still got to come up with a fairly cheap way to vent the room or is the A/C unit is enough air exchange in the room? 3ft deep 5ft long 7ft tall
