nope not really, i add some h2o2 (peroxide) every week to prevent root rot. no algae either. also my res temp is under 20C (prob 15-16c), so that helps prevent rot too.

keep water up to net cup until roots are down, once that happens level can be a few inches lower with no worry. you can top water to keep the cube moist only until then, after that no need as roots will sit in water and cube can dry out. if your specific case, feed that root through the platform...

depends on genetics but I wold expect a decent stretch at that big. either bend them over or tie them down or set up a screen so you can keep the stretch under control and even canopy.
