Place your hand out above the plant and see if its warm or hot. should be lil warm but the closer the light to the plant WITHOUT the heat is the best. I would say 8-12 inch if you can get that close without burning your plant.
Florescents can be the quite close

can u tell me how far lights should be off plant.i using hydroponics and two 600w to flower..........ta mate
