Some qwiso batches I made from 1/4 mason jar of trim! :) shook it for only 20 sec and this is my results! :) first one wasn't very filtered second one I made sure It filtered perfectly. I think that's just resin I think. Its so tasty! :) how to I make it into a shatter??

Idk like 4 hours..??? I let it air dry with a fan. Is the color ok?? Now that it's sat out, it's a thicker consistency. How do you get shatter???? Does it like dry out to be that?

To be honest, I'm not sure if it is fully purged. 4 hours is a really short amount of time I think especially for a natural evap. It sitting it will do that, the problem is, if it isn't properly purged the ISO will be stuck in it until you purge it out. The color does look nice though.

With me, how I get shatter is, after the ISO is fully evaped (can't smell it, you flip the pyrex over and nothing happpens) I then put it in a hot water bath for 20 mins. I then pull it out, wait a minute or so and scrape away. Works out pretty wellish for me. Other people get shatter with no heat what so ever.

Yeah, Idt it had any left... Maybe a miniscule amount in the second pic. Now, that second batch is harder goo, and thicker. It is also a tad darker.(prob cause all the alcohol is out??)my next batch should be the best out of them all... I'm going to Use only my buds from my first grow :) also, I filtered twice the second batch. One with mesh strainer, again with a coffee filter to mesh strainer. Should I filter once more next time? Or does it matter after a point?? My last batch, I saw not even a speck get in when I strained it twice... I think the darker stuff is resin build up...?

As it purges it will thicken a bit and the color will change. Its easiest to see in under purged bho it looks real creamy and.. just under purged lol.....that's what you were noticing, you should leave it in a thin film with a fan to evap the remaining water from the iso, spread the oil that has fallen out of solution nice and thin to let everything evaporate. Once you have a good product, leave it out overnight and there's the finish on your purge....I mean if you don't have a vac or want to use heat

Check out the iso threads in the concentrate section for better processing techniques (not saying yours is bad necessarily)

Hmmmm.... What color should the final product be? Mines a golden light brown color, and doesn't look nearly as runny anymore. Will more filteration make my product better? ISO was only in contact with plant stuff for 20 sec as well. Can also, is it better to freeze everything a few hours before use? I didn't freeze any of my product.

Like I said check out some of what should be stickies on the first page in the concentrate section, a lot of good info...

It should be solid at room temp meaning you drop it and pieces fly , color will vary from white tan sandy to bright red or any in between amber shatter for instance...more filtration will make it stick together better and not be so sludgy it will be runny when warm. It should also be translucent..everything should be frozen and stabilized

The more filtration the better is generally true. Golden or light brown is pretty common, the final color will depend on many variables, one of the largest being the starting material. You will get a lighter oil from bud usually then from trim, and I've noticed this even a little more with fresh bud. Freezing will also help alot with color and with the amount of contaminants that are extracted with the cannabinoids. Frozen material doesn't release the chlorophyl as easily to the alcohol. Heres a run I scraped a couple days ago. The strain was SinCiity Seeds powernap, the first pic is right after I scraped it from the dish after a 24hr evap, the second is after I mushed it together in a mass. I evap on top of my dehumidifier which allows constant warm dry air to move around the dish, while never letting it get hot.

You can see in the second pic, the edges actually turned into wax, where the center was a shatter texture. The only oil I've had this happen with was this bud run, and a Cindy 99 bud run a did a few weeks ago. In both cases only the first wash (A grade) had this happen, the second wash from each was full shatter. Since your hear Qwizo you got any input on the self waxing oil?

Its called (meant heterogeneous) nucleation... as to the exact how's, its very similar to crystallizing. All dependent on temps pressures fluctuations of the two and the types of waxes and terpenes in your product ie mainly long or short chain compounds

Its not an easy concept to grasp..lol... that's all I can say about waxing....

Very nice by the way tc! That first pic of powder looks delicious...why do you prefer to solidify it? Jw

Also the cleaner and less impurities/similar boiling points or just plain fewer compounds promote waxing.

Well I love all your answers man I like cleaner, fewer compounds and less impurities :)!!

I like to solidify just so its easier for me to handle and dab and such most of the time.

I'm thinking about putting my 3rd batch on a skillet on a stove to purge. How would I do that?how DO I purge it correctly on a stove skillet?? And what do I put the stuff on???

Doesn't look done to me man.. just put it on a double boil or something if you don't wanna let it sit overnight

I like parchment paper for holding the oil. Personally I would skip the skillet, the heat will damage your flavors. If you really want to use heat to evap, I would put it in or on a dish over a water bath or double boiler to help stablize the heat, and prevent over heating/burning. Anytime I've used heat to evap I have ended up with a product that stays goopy. It still dabs well and tastes ok, but doesn't compare with the methods I'm using now. It also seems that the stuff Iv'e heated always came out darker colored. That being said, I've evaped whole batchs in under 4 hours using a double boiler and had decent oil fast.

Looks freaking delicious TC! Man, probably one of the best qwISO end products I have seen.

Kushdaddy, 2nd batch looks good but I too think it might need more purge time.. How does it taste?
