Cataract Kush DWC Nitrogen Overdose

This is my 2nd run on this strain, same mother and i'm noticing nitrogen overdose without actually overfeeding.

Nutrient line: Cultured Solutions(was getting this in veg with Dyna-gro my first run)

Veg Part A - 5-0-0.3
Veg Part B - 1.3-2-5.9

Bloom Part A - 3.7-0-.3
Bloom Part B - .9-4.8-6.2

Boost - 0-4.5-4,8

Lights: 6 Tube T5HO veg - 600w HPS flower (10 inches above plants)

PH: If I know it's dropping I set at 6.1 and next day its about 5.7. If it's rising I set at 5.6 and let rise to 6.1 which is usually 24 hours.

EC: I was toying with 1.1-1.4EC and was seeing daily dropping until I upped it to 1.4EC and kept that for a few days so that must mean that the plant likes that feed?

Fill a new bucket every time the plant leaves about a gallon left. So every 5-7 days.

Climate: 65F night - 72F day - RH 20-30%

What i'm noticing is dark green fan leaves off the main. The other leaves are normal green. Top new growth is normal green(but that is always lighter than the old growth)

Eventually the fan leaves will start to curl at the ends and the small leaves near bud sites will curl "rams horn"

Usually around week 2 of flower. But the dark green leaves will be present in veg. And later in flower they will take on a red tint starting inwards(i've read this to be a phosphorus def. or a multiple overdose, but noticed it spread once I backed off the feed thinking it was a multiple overdose)

Red petioles on some of the fan leaves. Seems they go phosphorus def. as clones and never recover fully. Probably these nutrients shit amount of phosphorus.

I'm all stumped. Maybe this strain is just nitrogen sensitive? I've been reading environment particularly low RH can do this.

Vegging plants. Been getting water for past 72 hours. Was at 1.0EC, which isn't much. PH 5.8/7 and next day itd be 6.1/2 and then i'd down it back to 5.8/7. Feed is always dropping.

What could cause a plant to just intake so much N? I know its always available given the PH range I keep it in. But other than that? Plant appears to be liking the 1.4EC feed as its not dropped.

Are you saying that the pH creeps up after you use pH down? Is your pH down phosphoric acid based? If so, does adding more pH down cause things to get better, because that's feeding P. pH will rise if the plant takes up NO3-, H2PO4- and HSO4- faster than K+, Ca++ and Mg++

Anyone a clue?

...Pleaseeee

My ph down is phosphoric based.

PH goes up in veg and down in flower, typically.

I have dropped my feed to .8EC in veg from 1.2EC

Dropped flowering plants from 1.4EC to 1.0EC

So far its still progressing.

My petioles are also red in the top side.

And some veg plants are getting the tip curl.

I took off a big fan leaf blocking a lot of growth and found the leaf underneath it was a normal green but towards the margins of the leaf it was dark green.

Is that how a nitrogen overdose progesses? Or is this not a nitrogen overdose and something else?

the pH fluxes will cause that and a lack of calcium. Your plants look fairly good, it's not nitrogen overdose. The leaves without light will transpire less water and cause that type of curl as well.

I would not do anything to them except maybe a light dose of cal-mag. With overdose, the tips of all the leaves will die and turn brown and cause a nutrient block-out from root overload. Your plants look as if there may not be enough air going through the roots.. Are they pure white or is there some brown and slime? brown roots will cause that too.

It could also be a calcium overload, are you using tap water? If 30% of your EC is from tap water, aint that some shat. :weed:

Roots were the whitest i've seen so far. Still are. Plants in veg, not sure what happened I think I filled the res too high. Next day they were brown and have since tanned the roots. Roots are growing and the tips are white. No smells or gunk.

The mother had clawing leaves also 2nd week of flower. Started with the lower growth and worked up. Tips would curl down then the leaf would canoe and turn my big fat indica leaves to a sativa like look. Then they could curl in like talons.

All the sugar leaves on the mother were curled.

I have been noticing a calcium def. on a couple in veg same mother.

Well the ones in flower are on some cheap airpumps 4 outlet active aqua ones. The ones in veg are on a nice dual diaphragm that ive been using for a couple years. Only 5LPM per plant, but never had a problem with that before.

When I was using dynagro I was getting these dark fan leaves as well. On a different strain. No curl though.

dude.. you can get a hydrofarm pump from Amazon that is the size of a football for $50. 135-watt air pump, I have one. lol..

Allow me to tell you some of my secrets.. Use lots of air! and try this, get a 8$ sump-pump (mini-fountain) and put it in the rez/bucket water and let it circulate the water.. flowing water is better than stagnate water. :)

here is a couple big air-pumps. I would use at least 3-4 tubes or 20-30 watts of air per bucket. try that.

this one I would use for 3 buckets.

these are pretty cool too to get the air hoses right.

Not sure its lack of air. Been doing DWC for a couple years and never had an issue with air.

I am not supplementing cal-mag, but will start as I seen some cal def. showing on a few fan leaves.

It is getting to like 55F at night and only gets up to 65F during the day. Humidity lately has been non existent. My hygrometer doesn't even pick humidity up.

Flowers seem to be developing nicely. The one thats 2 weeks behind has same bud sizes as the older one though. This newer plant is showing some signs of curling, but not as badly. Perhaps it slowed down once I dropped the feed. I put it back up, but not as high as it was initially.
