First time did basically everything wrong

I grew this plant from a seed for the first part of the summer on a balcony with only about 2 hours of direct sunlight a day and now I am growing it under a 100 watt houselight. I know that this is most likely covered under another thread but I am extremely pressed for time to be able to really research through all of the threads at this point in time.

Also I am a complete rookie when it comes to growing and I was hoping that somebody with more experience might be able to give me a quick diagnostic.

Presently I am trying to keep the light on for 12 hours and off for 12 hours and water it regularly...other than that I have no idea what to do.

Save the money you'd waste in electricity and buy yourself a bag of weed.

That plant's not gonna do shit for you, and if you're flowering under a 100watt incandescent, well.....................you're really wasting your time and our time.

Mean!, But true lol!

Get some more light on it.. dont give up, its a start, and everyone has to start somewhere. Do a search for lighting, if your on a budget then make smart purchases for the best set up that you can afford

start off by throwing that incadescent bulb in the trash, and go to walmart and get yourself a couple of cfl bulbs.. they are those new spiral bulbs .. get yourself like four of the 26 watt ones.. they usually say that they are 100 watt equivalants.. or better yet, get yourself over to home depot.. they have 65, 85 and i think a 120 watt cfl, complete with a ballast and everything for maybe like $60 or so... the ballast is the part that delivers the needed electricity to the bulb.. these aren't in the bulb isle, but rather in i think like the outdoor lighting isle, and they are used for outdoor floodlighting, and that maybe what the box says on it, but it is kool to use them indoors.. if you have got money to burn i would even suggest going to a site such as htg supply and looking at the complete lighting systems section, you can get yourself a nice setup for one plant for about a buck fifty or so.. if spending that amount of money, i would go with the hps setup.. you could probably get a 150 watter complete with ballast and hood and ready to plug and play for about that amount of cash..or you could also go with a 150 watt cfl that i think they have, but they are basically the same price as the hps, and you will get much better results with the hps..
the major problem with normal household lights are the fact that they waste most of their energy making heat instead of light, and what little light that they do make is all in the wrong spectrum for plant to grow and thrive under... cfl's run much cooler and provide a much better spectrum of light for plants to grow under, and hps and metal halide even better yet, but of course these cost more duckets..
i am not sure where you live, but if the temps are still decent outside this time of year, like maybe in the 60's or so, i would put that baby back outside untill you get some probper lighting.
do yourself a favor, stick around here and do some research on your own.. there are plenty of threads about growing with cfl's and hps and whatnot, or even better yet, run to the bookstore and get yourself a good grow book that breaks everything down.. i would recomend the indoor medical marijuana grow bible by jorge cerventes.. good luck in your quest for herb, and remember everyone starts somewhere..

Wow bob, you're such a helpful member of RIU. Although you may be right, you can't put a price on the learning process and what one goes through to seek out correct advice. Lets be a little more helpful in the future hey!!!

Hey there newbie, if you wanna get some solid infor on what you can produce with House hold CFL's, we have a consolidated thread for that. Come check it out. In the mean time familiarize yourself with the BASICS in grow FAQ!

BUT for the meantime till you get back to us all, GO TO WAL-mart or Home Depot, and buy 2, 42 Watt Soft white(2700k)CFL (150w incandecent equivelent) throw them on a 'Y" socket splitter and hang that about 2 inches above your plant. This will buy you a bit of time till you learn more.
