kinda looks like a mag def. although thoes leaves are quite curly. could be signs of other issues. too much ventilation/airflow in growroom, nitrogen tox (not too likely, leaves arent that dark green), could be the dip in the low temp for the nights. ur buddy using properly phd water after he adds his newts? need to know a bit more info before a proper diagignosis can be made.

It's not a mag def.

High humidity + too many nutes, that's most certainly your problem. It may also be a severe nutes lock out caused by improper pH, but it's less likely.

You definitly need to check the soil pH.

This is what we did, he said he could not keep the soil ph up so i checked the soil it was 5.5 so we add 1 Tbsp htdrated lime per gallon water that is supposed to be 7ph balanced the ph water went up to 13.6 ph, up we flushed with it anyways it brought the soil up to 6.5 so did we do it right? if it has a 7ph balance why would it bring the water up to 13.6ph and not 7ph? the next watering he will add 1/4 percent nutes foxfarm grow big and big bloom, is it o.k to use molasses in veg?
