4 weeks left - Fucked up with Mollassas !!!! Am I doomed?

Yea I knew it was to good to be true. And its MY FAULT!
It worked great for the first three weeks I used it. The problem is if you don't have a PH pen you can't tell that it jacks your PH down into toxic acid land. Using a liquid tester was useless since it changes the color of the water. So here I am adding 1 TBS of Moll to my 6.0 water... shit I was likely watering with 4.0 or so....
I can't afford a PH pen at the moment.

Had the most amazing buds I have grown. I am 5 weeks in to 12/12. Big fucking cola on my Casey Jones... Today I checked my girls and about half of the leaves have turned yellow and are dropping. PANIC !!! Flushed with water but I am in soil (NEVER AGAIN!!!). Guessing I will wait till the next light cycle and flush again untill the run off is 7.0? Then do I add nutrients again? and add another week or so to the flowering. I'm I just fucked? Will overwatering to flush be just as bad at this point?

God damn I am such an idiot. I never should have added MOL without knowing more. So depressed this morning. Such a fucking newbie... and now that I add up all I spent on this grow set up I could have just bought chronic for half a year... stupid... looser

Sorry to hear about your problems..

I don't think flushing will do much harm.. It should do more good than bad...

got any pics?

flushing would be your best bet growing can cost ya close to 5000 dollars for a decent sized setup even more if your going for alot of product take in the good and deal with the bad in no time soon you see youll have enough for everything i started with a 400w and walgreens soil and sexi mexi bag seed lmfao now im pushing 2 lbs a a month with 6 1000w co2 ezcloner etc.... keep up the good work

here are some shots I took this morning lights off. Looks like flushing has already helped. Wish i had taken a shot 12 hours ago they looked worse.

Thanks for the kind words guys! When my wife told me I had spent 3 grand on the set up I shit myself. Especilly because I want to switch to Hydro next run. I just got so sick of the inconsistancy and under organics of the meds I get and wanted to control it myself.... I sure as hell did that!

Love that 3rd pic!

I didn't realize molasses was so acid - near 5. I'll be using 1/2 TBLS per gallon next run

don't the real ph drops (blue/green = alkaline; yellow/red = acid) give you the acidity regardless of the liquid's color?? i mean i used it on my molasses mix last week and realized the same thing, but the mix that went into the little test tube turned completely yellow...hmmmm...

i'm talking bout the real ph drops, not the ones used to test pool's ph...

I have a full range liquid set that I got from my local hydro shop. The amber color of the mollassas makes acurate reading impossible in the acid side as 6.0 is yellow and 4.0 is pink. I had to make the call between $99. for the A/C or the PH pen... its hot here in the summer... but I wish I had sold a guitar and bought both...

I got my ph reader for under 10 euros (can't imagine in the US they are much more expensive) Once you get the ph sorted i think you'll be alright. flushing is def the way to go initially. do you know what the flowering time for your weed is? depending on that, you may only be feeding it nutes for another week or 2. And after that your buds will start sucking the life out of your leaves anyway.

I found mould on one of my plants leaves today, so Iam also going through a bummer. i used something called Silinal which is supposedly a natural product, fingers crossed. good luck with it!!!

Don't beat yourself up re: pH pens . . . I've got two medium priced (40-75$) and they NEVER come close to matching (-+1.0).
In fact, I've stopped bothering (soil)

I have dealt w/your issue (as suggested) and figured out a fix, verified by three grows.

What I did/do is flush well, then add tbl. 5-1-1 Alaskan FF along with full bloom nutes.
One time.

Won't save already affected foliage, but will stop yellowing and leave drop. Continue bloom ferts at waterings.

Thanks Babe! My plan is to flush again and test the run off. Wait one light cycle so I don't waterlog, then feed my FF nutes - normal FF Big Bloom food - plus tbl of my FF GrowBig 6-4-4? will that be ok or should I go buy some 5-1-1 ? I think I will bag on mollassas for the rest of this run... I just don't know what its make up is and how to formulate it into my Fert Cycle.

i have a simple soloution for your problems........... its this amazing new thing called........... BAKING SODA!!
yes that is right, today with the low price of :$19.95 i will tell you of the wonders of baking soda!

5Ml (1tsp) of baking soda/gallon of water raises the PH of the water by a full point, mollases lowers the PH by around .2 to .3 every time you feed with it (so i've found..).
So, if you add 1tsp/gallon of baking soda to your water after every 3-4 feedings it works out......

just gota add "NEVER AGAIN!!!" when it comes to soil?? you will find out very fast that soil is very forgiving if you try hydro......... soil is the choice for newbie growers for a reason, its EASY compared to hydro....... cheaper to.

Simple soil-less mix that i use:
1 gallon of peatmoss.
2 cups perlite.
1 cup vermiculite.
1 cup worm castings.
2 tbsp vegatative bat guano.

this portion of the mix will make veg easy, dont wory to much about fertalizer, the castings and guano make up alot of nitrogen/potash.

amend the top soil before inducing flowering. amend with:
2 cups peat moss
1 cup vermiculite
1 tbsp flowering bat guano
1 tbsp bone meal.

this should get you through flowering with little fertalization for teh first month, the last month fertalize as desired and flush as desired.
if you dont want to wory about using anything other than mollases to feed your plants follow this........ its what i use.

I should have said - Never again indoors. I just think that Hydro will be the best solution for my set up next time. This is my third soil grow. Just first time to this scale. First time using MOLL. Thank you for the B Soda formula! Also my tap water is usually 7.5 and I add vinager. I guess I will need to come up with a formula incorperating the initial PH change, to get me to a final 6.0

My condolences for the damage bro. It looks like your girls will recover easily enough. Especially since yellowing off and flushing are common things in final flowering. Those buds are looking nice and fat. It looks like that 3 grand will be worth it in the end :D

Your mistake is an important reminder to everyone that you can't overdo ANY additive. I've seen guys on these forums talking about using mollases and saying, "Use 2tbs a gallon or whatever, it can't hurt, it's organic!" This is evidence that it does. I wasn't even aware of how acidic it is...

The idea is to replenish the N value (in this fix) so your 6-4-4 should be fine.

You think you had it bad, my last grow i had bud rot to the extent that i lost about 30% of the crop and the rest got a case of the hermie's.

I know how you feel, your heart sinks when you open the door and its not like it should be.

Mr Fishy I think I love you.

Oh and do you think I should wait 12 hours after the second flush? or should I fert after my runoff shows 7.0... whata ya think?
