Proper Nutrients???

Well guys, my ladies are currently on there second week on the veggie state. They are looking fine and healthy, i was just wondering when would it be good to start trowing in some nutrients on them.

basically here is the soil I have:
Miracle grow garden soil
Miracle grow seedling starting soil(mostly peat moss)
Miracle grow perlite

First off i would like to say that YES all those Miracle grow products say "Enriched with Miracle grow plant food" and the garden soil says "feeds up to 3 months" so what i did was mix 2/4 of garden soil with 1/4 perlite and 1/4 seedling soil to make my growing medium, so far they seem to love it (they give me kisses every time i go to smell them) and i have no problems with it. As for feeding (currently) i give them normal tap water once a day regurlarly and as i said SO FAR, they seem ok.

and here are the nutrients i have:
Vigoro all purpose plant food (24-8-16)
Dynamite for vegetables and flowers (13-13-13)

Well yep...I would like to know if those nutrients are good enough or not and if not then what nutes should i buy (preferably something i can find at home depot, dont feel like ordering nutrients) and if the nutes i currently have are good enough then how should I introduce them to my beautiful ladies.

All and Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time

PS. plant im growing is papaya(very short indica) and they smell beautiful!!, i just hope that they taste as good as they smell :hump:

You should not need any nutes in Vegetative stage at this point if you are going to flower within 1-4 weeks of Veg. I would also recommend a nute that is higher in phosphorous (the middle number) for flowering. Once in flowering, start watering with PH balanced water and use 1/2 the nutes recommended on the container. If humidity and air is right, you'll be feeding every 2 to 3 days as you water.

Again, I would not feed plants at this time. Your medium has what the plant needs for veg growth.

Forgot to add, My selection for first grow is Papaya as well. A nice short bushy indica with a tropical smell. Can you post some pics? :)

yeah, here are some pictures, the one on the left is my bigger baby and the one on the right is my smaller one.

also, i know that the have stretched alot but i fixed the lighting problem friday. when i transplant them i plan to add enough medium till theres about a 1 inch space between soil and the first set off leaf's. i read that by doing this, it keeps plant shorter and the streched stem starts to grow roots, thus making plant healthier.

also theres a picture there of my growing medium's.

and a question for you dude, are they worth it? cuz they smell AMAZING!!! :weed:

I would add that nitrogen should be discourage about 2 weeks into flowering or less. We don't want to many nitrates in the finished product.

Hi optic, I first starting growing in Miracle grow and was called down all the time about using it but always felt it was a good soil if your going non organic. Also someone told me that someone on the forums grew some of the most beautiful bud with MG. So how bad is it. Anyway I feel it has lots of nutes in it and if you start adding to much you'll get nute burn and nute lock- out so can be a bit finicky with added nutes even organic nutes. I went totally organic on my following grows so I could manage nutrient applications better. If I were you try using some weak organic mixes like mollasses in flower and maybe a little seaweed extract or liquid fish fertilizer in veg nearing flowering.I have learned the potting up thing. Changing to bigger pots as they grow getting new soil each time and thus needing no added nutes as soil has it all in it but stating of flower they stay in the same soil and then they will need you to add the needed nutes for them to produce the best flowers it can for YA.hpoe this helps and good L Showgirl p.s. Just notice the pic of the mg soil.Doesn't look like there would be much nutes in there so if you have the nutes(organic) may need some during veg.Your plants are looking nice and healthy.

Thank you very much for all your advice showgirl, i will defenetly look into those organic nutrients ;-)

You wont need nutrients for a while. I used 2 part Scotts potting mix(has miracle grow in it I think) and 1 part vermiculite. The thing held water like all hell. All I can say though is that the plant took nutrients fine(all I ever had was an occasional speck of yellow/brown on tips when I'd lightly fertilize, which is never a problem). I think people complain about miracle-gro too much, "The blue stuff" is working right by me. I don't know if i'm reaching my full potential but I think I'm getting damn good results. Plant is 2 and a half months veg with 2 weeks flowering and not showing any deficiencies. I only give it some realy diluted miracle-gro all-purpose plant food every other watering.

I'd say just add very diluted amounts and increase every few days a little bit until you see very slight nutrient burn on the leaf tips. After that just give it a solution that's a little more diluted and you'll be gold. Every two weeks flush the plant with nutrient-less water to flush out salts. Follow that and I dont think you'll see any problems during veg. When it comes to flowering, you might end up having to add a little phosphorus a few weeks in but that's about it.

thank you redeflect, and i have seen that miracle grow food too. ill dilute it good so i wont cause any harm to my babies.

thank you guys, also, what kind of organic nutrients are recomended? what brand and what npk should i get?

(also im trying to find a miniature humidifier, my tempts are 75-85 F so its not bad but the air is very dry, and thats making me add water to the plants more frequently)

Well guys, i went to homedepot today and i couldnt find any organic fertelizers with a 20-20-20 npk ratio. So i asked a employee and ended up buying Miracle Grow tomato plant food. i heard that by doing 1/4 of the solution and then gradually going till full strenght is good for marijuana (as it is for tomato plants lol). The NPK of the fertelizer is 18-18-21 so its not bad for when i start to flower my ladies.

What im planing to do is start with my Vigoro all purpose plant food (24-8-16) 1/4 solution wile my ladies are in veg state and then when i start flowering ill start using the MG tomato plant food.

If you got any opinions or advice please post them

thank you for all who are cooperating.

As for humidity, get a natural sponge, soak it and lightly squeeze excess water, place on a plate and stick it in the grow room. Also, if you are filling a 5 gal bucket with water and letting it come to room temp and evaporate chlorine, it will help as well.

optipl3, not to say plants will not grow in it but the soil you have is for trees and shrubs with added MG. If it was me I wouldn't use that kind! I don't skimp on soil and have found some fantastic organic mixes that if you pot up all you'll need for nutes is mollasses/water and a little epson salt in flower at that's it,but you can add as much as you like almost with organic.I have purchaced some basic good soil and added more peat moss and perlite and some bone meal and blood meal as a great natural time release fertilizer. Thank you for that advice show girl, but as i said earlyer, i dont have problems with the growing medium. my girls seem to like it because they as growing healthy in it. When i transplant along with the mix im alredy making i heard that by putting half a cup of organic mannuer will not only easy the MG nutes alredy in the soil but it will retain a little bit more of moisture.

But thanks for the advice on the soil any ways.

and the tip of the sponge, thank you.
