Lumigrow Pro Series Lighting (325 and 650) Light Output / Heat Question

Hi all!

This is my first night posting after having been lurking for months! I am in the market from switching from MH/HPS. I've already invested a lot of time and money into my set up and want to get it right this time. So any help at all would definitely be greatly appreciated!!

Grow Room set up :

Lighthouse Hydro Grow Tent - 2.5' x 2.5' x 5'
Closet space tent is in: About double the volume of the tent total, so the tent takes up a little over half the closet with very narrow space where the exhaust is.

Previous Set up: Failed because of heat issues, 95F+

400w MH/HPS w/ Cooltube reflector and 6" 400 cfm inline fan

Set up trying to achieve:

Lumigrow Pro (either 325 or 650, preferably the 650)
Less than 250 CFM Fan
Maybe some additional 26w cfls for around the sides/bottom of grow tent (or 42w cfl if reccomended? Research I've done says that 42w and 26w cfls have about the same efficiency)

Question:

Is heat an issue at all with the Lumigrow Pro 650? I am on the fence about whether to get a 325 or 650. Is money the only driving factor for most people? Because overall I feel like the 650 is definitely a better deal so I don't know why the 325 would be so popular. The only thing that would make sense is heat?

I'm in a very confined grow space, my grow tent (2.5' x 2.5' x 5') is stuffed into a closet grow so there isn't too much air space outside of the tent (maybe a maximum of the same volume of space outside the tent as inside). I can circulate the air but I figure my experience with MH/HPS lighting has been that the entire grow closet was getting too hot (95f+) on a 400w MH/HPS with 400 cfm fan.

My question is whether to get the Lumigrow Pro 325 or the Lumigrow Pro 650. I plan to use a fan with less than 250cfm (since my space is limited I figure I can save on the added noise, since theres not too much space for hot air to go anyway). Do you think I could keep cool temps with the 650 given my circumstances? Will the 650 give me a greater yield in a 2.5 ft x 2.5ft area?

Thanks

650 will give you better yield but that's a lot of watts and think temp will be an issue in that grow space even with the 250dfm. Go with the Pro325. Finally - I like how ur doing ur homework. Think you're going to do very well and look forward to following ur grow.

The 650 IS overkill for that space.....Yes heat will be an issue 650watts in a 2x2 is gonna take massive air movement to cool............go with the 325 and make your life easier:P

I agree, I would actually get a larger grow space and get the 650.
I know from experience that I always want to expand or get something stronger. Think long term, I'm sure your going to want more power eventually. But psuagro is right, ur going to need a lot of air moment to keep cool

Thank you biowheel, I hope to post some great grows for you! I have some northern lights, ice bomb, og kush, and some betty boo autoflowering strain on the horizon!

Do you think the Lumigrow 325 will give any heat issues? I know it's cool to the touch but right now I'm using 4 2' T5's totalling 100w and I've noticed with the closet door closed its around 80F inside the tent and with the closet door open the tent is around 75 or 73F. Right now I have a 4" booster fan. When I finish setting up I will replace that with a 6" 250 CFM booster fan I have if it helps.

Yes and even with my air movement I feel like the air will just heat up and recirculate back to the tent. Do you think the 325 will cause any heat issues?

You're absolutely right but sadly there is no space where I can expand discretely. With this small space I've allotted I can be in it for the long hall without worries. My logic is that years of growing in a smaller space is better than a couple months of growing in a bigger space. Maybe one day we can all be fortunate enough to grow without having to be discrete.

Here's some information regarding heat output for the LumiGrow fixtures.

Pro 325 - 800 BTU/hr
Pro 650 - 1600 BTU/hr
LumiBar - 580 BTU/hr

With these numbers and the numerous tutorials out there, you can figure out your cooling requirements.

325 watts seems like it would be plenty for your space, however, LEDs unlike HIDs don't work as a good point source; they are more like T5s and coverage of the area that you want to grow is important. PLants will grow very well right under the fixture and a few inches to the sides but I doubt that you are going to get good coverage over a 2.5 x 2.5 foot area from a 10 x 11 inch fixture. I would tend to go with multiple lower wattage units to cover the area.

Check out Area 51 and Hans panel...or maybe three 100 watt solar flares from growers house which I think would give you better results AND be cheaper than one Lumigrow.

Another way to leverage the light well, is to go with a light mover so that you simulate multiple fixtures as far as coverage goes. If you are handy and really want that Lumigrow then you might rig something to keep it moving over the canopy.
