Anybody have experience with blackstarled.com? Shipping to Canada also

I was looking at the Blackstar 240W, and I live in Canada, so far this seems to be the cheapest option available @ 279$ + 15$ shipping.

Does anybody know if this site is reputable? They don't take PP, and charge the card directly, and it seems they are a yahoo store.

If this site isin't reliable, anybody know where I could find me one of these for around this price? I'm looking for only flowering, Vegging will be done with CFL.

I live in Canada as well. You may have to be careful with the duties + tax, they charge you after it gets delivered to your door. The only postal service that does not charge you that fee is USPS.
This is a great find, I am also looking for a LED for my next grow.

Wow, that's a pretty sweet light! I wonder how they compare to the 240W Blackstar. These guys say they pull an actual 160W with all spectrum on. I wonder what specs are the LED's and if one would suffice?

There is a thread out there. Let me try and find it update this post. But I remember that the Progrow 180W puts out an actual wattage of 151. That's $2.04/watt. The progrow 180w costs 309.00, free shipping worldwide plus 3 year warranty. Just trying to save up for my next grow and get this baby!

Wouldn't I have to purchase 2 of these? One for flowering and one for veg?
Or would one suffice throughout the grow?

im sure there is no problem getting one shipped to Canada... ive tried putting seedlings and even clones under the blackstar 240 flowering model and the plants didnt like it one bit. I would only use the flowering model for flower but thats just my opinion and figured it out from my personal experience. no doubt that its a bummer knowing the true output is only 135watts.

try the bay - gotham hydro. you can haggle a bit with the prices. i made an offer on a 135w blackstar and they accepted. shipping was $30ish and UPS charged $16 for customs fees upon delivery which wasnt so bad.

Ebay for sure -- you can make an offer at less than list price and save yourself some money

I went with the 240 blackstar to canada from gothom hydro lighthouse. I googled and it called them. They have a good rep for helping out the customers and if you call they could bring shipping off. They ship for free they said but you have to pay for return if you upgrade or return.The thing with led is you need calmag or calmagic. Led requires this stuff its probably why the other poster said they had problems veging in the flower model. Honestly though I'm happy so far. I have a current topic up you can see results in 2nd week of flower.

You cant go wrong with your blackstar choice. Just get the UV model(flower), it will veg your plants beyond your expectations. They will almost veg the plant bigger than it can flower. My best yeild with a 240 was 3ounces. Your yeild will depend on the strain your using. I play with a lot of different kushes and am always stoked on my end product with the blackstars. Their bigger lights kick ass also.

i live in canada west....gotham is awsome and fast,,the duty on two blackstars was 16 buks,,,,and 20 for filter/fan combo.....it was less than half cost than my local rip-off guy and its shipped half way round the frikken planet............on my second order it was shipped evan b4 the payment was processed, they are tops in my mind.

I'm hoping for 4+ off my biggest plant... almost sure I'll get 2-3+... under more than one 240w blackstar tho

you will get more when you have multiple panels stacked together.

Beat me to the punch. a Hydro Hut PG 180 will provide a lot more growing horse power than a BS 240 which only draws 130w when plugged in vs the PG 180 that operates on 160w. Blackstars do work but are notorious for overstating the actual power of their lamps. For reference I've owned blackstar/lighthouse leds as well as hydro hut. I have since sold my blackstars on ebay and now run only Hydro Hut.

Plus the BS only have a 1 year warranty vs a 3 year with HH.

I agree... one LED is fine for one or two plants smaller plants... but multiple panels stacked is definitely the way to go for yield on several plants vs one bigger one.

cant go wrong with the blackstars I use to grow with a 600w hps till electricity hating and cooling issues were killing me. I bought two 240w blackstars flowering and I also have a 300w chinese panel I tell you what those panels kick ass in flowering and vegging most I pulled off one plant was just over 2 ounces in a one gallon containers with promix soil!. I have been growing with these lights since than. It works great for me in the space im growing in.

In the way of overkill I put a Vertigo Auto under a pro grow 550 - 80 days later I pulled 5.5 oz off it.
