Bigboy's Round 2. SOG style.

Howdy folks. Been a couple months since I cropped out of my last SCRoG grow. Things went pretty smoothly, considering I had some hermi problems ( unstable genes, since has been retired) I ended up with a nice amount of meds to keep me going strong for a while. I made some ISO oil and even some Bubble hash. Once cured, all 5 strains I grew were awesome.

This round I threw down a piece of Plywood over my SCRoG table, and am going to give a SOG grow a try. The room on the table fit 18 2 gal pots perfectly. Some have been Topped/Lst, some have not. I tend to let the strains I have not grown before, grow once before I mess with them, just to see how they grow in their true form.

Things are not very interesting atm, but I just flipped flower on the 1st of april, after close to a month of veg.

Here are the details:

Light: 1000w HPS (magnetic) Brand new Hortilux bulb.

Soil: http://catalogue.lambertpeatmoss.com/products/19-LM_Series/130-6649802490-LM_17_Fertlized_Extra_Coarse_Peat.html
I couldn't get my normal soil, due to the weather still being real crappy where I live, things are still out of season. I got a bail of this stuff, and they have been happy in it since I transplanted over a month ago.

Lineup: 8 X Blueberry Kush. 5 x Purple Kush. 3 X Chemo. 2 X Great White Shark. Most are clones, except the Purple Kush and 2 Blueberry Kusr are Seed. Going to be mother hunting on the Purple Kush. Everything except the Great White (9 wks) will finish right around 8 weeks.

Nutes: Advanced Professional Lineup.

Only have a few pics atm. One in early veg, one a few weeks later when I transplanted, then one on day 1 of flip. I will be updating every week on Sunday (end of my weeks) with some new pics. New end of week 1 pics to come this Sunday. Pull up a chair, I promise things will start to get real sexy after a few weeks. :leaf::leaf:

Looks good! look forward to seeing them grow!
I'm curious - why did you flip them when they were small? Do you get a better yield with more, but smaller plants?

He did say that he wanted to try a SOG.

This sounds like a fun one to follow.

I have a similar SOG of AK-47 and Somango, but my next SOG
will be more like yours (PurpleBerry, OGs, and Blue Cheese).

Good luck!

Thanks for stopping by guys!! Reason I flipped at this stage is due to the height restrictions I have between the table and my light. I know how much everything will stretch, so I should be left with about a foot between the canopy and my cooled hood.

I am dying to try some Soma gear. A friend of mine said he used to grow his genetics almost 10 years ago, and they were killer then.

Yep, I got a similar height restriction. I am trying the 4-way LST w/scrog.
Another question! Why are you going from SCROG to SOG? just to try it out?
I am considering SOG to give me the flexibility to move my plants around.

Yep, just to give it a try. I have a shitty back, and I found it hard last grow to get under my screen on all sides to clean it up. I have been growing indoors now for over a year, and only ever did it with a Scrog. I am always trying something new on each grow, just to see what will work best for me. So far I like the versatility of the SOG.

I might do the same thing.
I am scrogging two plants; I may look to SOG four (4) plants. Not sure how long I would veg. I would have to do some aggressive training to manage plant height. In the end, the biggest factor for me will be yield (2 scrog vs 4 sog in a 2x3' footprint)

Good evening folks. I'm a day late with the update, partially because I changed my light cycle around, so my lights are on during the night, and off during the day (8pm-8am). I'm still getting used to it..:S I did this because its starting to warm up, and I didn't want to be running during the day, with the added stress of keeping things cool on a nice spring day. It stays cool enough during the night, that I don't have to worry about the heat..Or haven't yet anyways (knock on wood) I am hoping to get through at least 5 more weeks before the night time temps start messing with my shit.

Anyways, on to the Lady's... End of week 1 was yesterday. I gave them some 3/4 strength week 2 mix, with some Big Bud. I use Bud Blood at 3/4 strength, with week 1 1/2 strength mix, and I love the results from the Bud Blood. You can see in the pics below, lots of bud sites, and they are showing great development for only 1 week. All my seedlings have shown sex, and all 8 are Female, like I figured they would be. As of right now, they are loving life. No signs of any defs. and I keep a close eye.

Pics taken tonight. I will slowly start to clean out some undergrowth this week. I will stat taking non HPS shots when things start getting better to look at.

That's what I am hoping for.. A table full of Donkey Dick Buds!!

I am a little depressed though.. I am used to being with my girls whenever I wanted, when my light ran during the day. I would smoke all my joints out there, and just get away from the Wife when I had to.. Now, I have to wait until 8pm when lights come on. I only get to spend a few hours each night before I go to bed. Its hard I tell ya...

Its kinda boring between updates, so I figured I would show you guys what I am smoking on. Some of the best smoke(s) I have had in a while. A first time for both.

OG (not sure which breeder) --- og.jpgog (2).jpg

Rockstar Kush (Sensi star x Soma Rock Bud) -- rockstar (2).jpgrockstar.jpg

Of the 2, I like the Rockstar better. I am an Indica guy, and this is a really heavy buzz. The OG is a bit lighter on the body and head. Both are absolutely awesome and an easy overall 9.

I am going to be a mess for the next week. :joint::eyesmoke::leaf:.

Its that time again. This week went by pretty quick, and things are starting to come alive!!

I only water 2 times per week. Once on the first day of my week cycle (Sunday) and once about halfway through (Thursday) They really enjoy this because I am letting the pots get to that point, just before they start wilting from being dry. It promotes great root health. They like that day or two of being able to breathe, at the same time expanding, looking for water.

Today I started my week 3 mix. That includes Sensi Bloom A & B, Bud Candy, B-52, Sensizym, Nirvana & Big Bud. They are going to love it!! PPM right around 1100. Last week I concentrated on slowly clearing/cutting off the under growth, that will end up being popcorn buds. Some people don't like removing any foliage, but I would rather that energy be but into top buds.

On to the pics. again, I will start shooting pics under better light when things get more interesting. As you can see, bud sites are established, and stretch is over. Everything is sitting at between 15 & 18 In. They will put on another 3-6 by the time they are done. Light is sitting about 1.2 ft above canopy, and I cant raise it anymore. Canopy temp stays between 78-80. RH between 45-60%. Things are going to start getting better and better from here on out. :leaf::leaf:

So hard to catch an audience around here sometimes :p. Naw, I know how it is.. There are 100's of grow threads out there, just have to try and stand out with this one I guess.. :eyesmoke:.

So here we are, end of week 3 already. Time seems to fly by when you grow. I know this past winter went by in a flash.. Probably because I sat with my girls most of the time, in those tropical conditions they like so much. I hated walking out of my grow room, outside to -20 to -30 weather. Things are starting to warm up now, and we have had a few days that ended up being almost spring like. I live on the East Coast of Canada, and our weather is anything but predictable. The way things are going, I won't even be able to start thinking about putting some outdoors for a while yet. As if an East Coast Can. Outdoor season isn't messed up enough already.:cuss::wall:

ANYWAYS.. Back on topic. I watered yesterday with a full strength week 4 mix. Everything the same as week 3, but a full dose, and not 3/4 strength. PPM right around 1200. This is the last week the AN schedule calls for Big Bud, but I always use it an extra week, and push back the Overdrive the same. Seems they like that extra week PK boost.

I mentioned in my first post, that I am mother hunting with the 5 Purple Kush seeds I cracked. Not sure I will find one. Of the 5, 2 have started growing Hermi parts. Not Nanners, but full out sac's, along side the flowers (and no, they are not Calyx..:P) The other 3 seem OK so far, but not sure I want to chance it, when I know the genetics are sketchy. They are not "Hardcore" Hermi's, and the two are only growing sac's at a slow rate, so I have been keeping a CLOSE eye on them, and tweezing them off before they open. I know most would say to toss them, but I have dealt with a few Hermi's in the past, and they can be kept under control if you are diligent.

Everything else is growing Beautifully. See for yourself. Trich's are starting to set in nicely, and I noticed today, I could smell them more than usual during lights off. As always, I will start taking pics in better lighting when they are a bit more interesting to look at. Pics taken today, day 1 of week 4. :leaf::leaf:

LOL. Sorry bro, but this does seem to happen. There are just so many
cool grows to comment on here.

You have some very nice structure there.

Am I seeing the beginning of the eagle claw in a few photos?

Good stuff all 'round.

Thanks for sticking around Java!! You are definitely seeing some Eagle claw there.. It is really only happening on one plant, and its the closest one to my light, and is also about the only plant that does not get a steady breeze on it. I am positive its getting a bit to warm where its at. I will probably rotate it for a shorter one tonight. Some look like the fan leaves are growing all messed up, because I fold them back, and tuck them behind another fan, to open up the plant down the center, where the light is shining.

Good eye!
