to anyone who checks this thread...... is there anyone who has tried L.S.T. and topping? if so, what would you say worked out better??? This is my first grow and from seeing my friends' trees, I would recommend this to anyone.

If you have a question, ask.

now, I really dont believe that you of all people havent heard of that....... are you tricking me into something???? j/k

low stress training.... when my plant was about 12in tall I got some string and wrapped it around the main stalk and pulled it to the side, making the main stalk lean slightly to one side.

Now when you first do this, dont over do it... start slow. the plants top will not be facing up anymore it will be facing the side wall. If you check on it in 3hrs it will then be back to pointing straight up again but, you will notice that there is a "s" type shape in the stalk. by doing this you are promoting the side shoots to reach the same level as the main cola, thats what is in the picture, 1 plant w/ at least 4 main stalks at the same level.... no topping, just leaning to the side

I would do this until each of my waterings, right b4 I water I would let them off the string until the next day then, reapply the strings but pull down a little further this time... I did this for three weeks to 11 of 12 plants, the 12th plant is younger than all of them and is 3 inches taller also, so therefore I will always use this method 1) because it keeps them shorter but with the same amount of growth and 2) because now there are numerous colas at the top level..

i fuking love it. i have like 6 plants with 3-4 multi growths as tall as the main stalk (or within an inch 18inches tall plants) and was trying to figure how to duplicate them so you have def made my day. i def start trying ur mthod on some of my new veg room when theyre bigger.

thanks

it works great. let me dig thru some photos and see what i can find. i will take more tonight.
i use stainless steel wire. thin but stiff. i take a piece a couple inches long, bend little hooks on each end. then i hook the top of the plant about 2 nodes down. then i take and bend her aaaaaaaalllllllllll the way over and hook the other end to the bottom of her stalk. it makes a big bow. i nbend then just to the point of the stalk folding. i guess this would be called HST.
others i top and hook the wires to the edges of the pots instead of the main stem. if you top you can hook several branches to the pot. this really opens up the center.

these were topped and spread open.

this is an outdoor that was bent over at a young age.

i fukin love it!

problably best to drill some holes ion the rim of the pots fro my new veg room. ill put a snap ring on one end of the string the tie and go easy cheezy.

yes. you can also strip them. ready. as the side braches stretch up to meet the tops start remove the bottom set of second side branches. the tops will keep growing kinda like stretching except you keep the top 5-6 nodes growing and strip everything below. like a snake with a big head. you may have to veg longer, but you can get some really long side branches. them you can weave them into cool braids spread the tops out then flower them. i just braided one and gave it away without taking photos:wall: guess i'll have to work on another one.
none of this made any sense, i know. it's the medication.bongsmilie

I actually read somewhere that topping is just a waste of time, I tried it on one of my side shoots and by the time it even grew back, the other shoots were double the size of the original.... so in my opinion, fuck topping, that isnt natural anyways, you get the same effect from training them!!

wow, i never relized how good tieing down works. i have used the same method on an outdoor grow i did a few yrs back, but the results were never as good as the pics posted here.
i want to do this on one of my plants......but it is still young...but its a well rooted clone...with alot of new growth, soo could i start tieing it down now? just bending it a little bit for now???

couldnt you start this with a decent size seedling abouit 2 weeks old seems more smarter to start small for one you can keep the plant lower, and more contorl of it.

p.s. im not giving this as info im askin for info on this.

mean while blaze up !!!!!!!!!!

I would wait until its about 8-10 inches tall, thats just my opinion, obviously black starts out when his are smaller since you can see that he harvests at about 12 inches to 18 inches Im guessing, tonight I am going to make pics and do a tutorial on this, It will be posted in the morning

but what im thinking is doing it when its young, so that you can keep it some what closer to soil and keep it more evenly lighted on lets say a cfl's grow. you get what im getting at? if not i might be able to explain more.

um its about 2 weeks at most its just now getting the 2nd set of leaves (not couting the round ones)im thinking like another week and start to bend then slowly so they will hang closer to the soil in the pot im think like a pot that is close to being one foot across around how ever you wanna say it like a 5gall pal but a bit shorter.not keep it close the hole time but just to keep the hight down lower in early growth

you can start training as soon as you have sturdy root growth. i feel the sooner the better but before 5-6" you aren't really doing much. i start around 6 - 10". i will let clones veg then when i put them into flower i bend them. that same day. you can continue bending as long as the stem is still bendable. once the stem stiffens up it's to late. have fun with it!
