Good luck with your first grow Ganja67. I am in week 5 of my first MMJ grow here in the desert.

I read through your posts in the Arizona Strains thread and I hear you about playing it extra safe to protect the plants, as I am doing the same. But I am starting to realize how resilient the cannabis plant is. I'm starting to see for my own eyes some of the stuff that I've researched endlessly. As I keep the simple yet crucial necessities in check, temp, air circulation, and water needs, my girls have responded well. These plants are stronger than us noobs give them credit for. :)

Here's a few of my babies, Querkle, Critical, and Pure AK. Cheers!

Yours look so nice and bushy whereas mine are tall with not nearly so many leaves....like you, I focus on the necessities you mentioned but yours look far superior to mine! Do you worry much about the humidity levels being so low here in AZ? Without the humidifiers, my inside levels were only 35-40 whereas with, they've been up to 45-50.

Thank you. If that question was meant for me Scupra, I do not believe I will be topping for this first go round. I want a simple grow to have something to compare future grows to. I'm starting some more seeds here this weekend and I plan on practicing some topping and LST on these plants.

But maybe I should top a couple of these to compare side by side. Let me ask you this Scupra, or anyone that wants to chime in, should I top these plants that are 6" tall now or wait until they get a little larger? I have about another week and a half before I flip them into flower.

Thanks Ganja67! I have a few more watts/lumens on my girls, so that might be it. I have a 4 tube 4' T5 on them. And I'm using Fox Farm Ocean Forest which seems to be doing them well... maybe caused a little nute burn when they were seedlings, but the top growth is lush now. I added perlite when I transplanted them too.

The low humidity hasn't kept them from growing. My range is 28-40% since they have been in the tent. I'm sure being closer to 50% would be beneficial, but this 1st grow for me is to get my feet wet and learn. I'll keep the girls alive and harvest some hopefully beautiful, sticky and stinky buds and that there is the goal in mind for round 1.

I haven't researched much about topping although I've heard of it.....please educate me!:eyesmoke:
Here's some youtube vids explaining topping. Not saying these are the best, but I've seen them and they seem informative. Hope these help.

Hey greywind look up uncle Ben's technique on topping. I would say do it for sure. I topped mine just how that page showed me to and all my girls have 2-4 main colas. My og kush made SEVEN shoots that are developing nice!

I don't think I'll top this go around since it's my first but will probably go for it the next time. Right now I only have two larger plants, one in veg and one in flower so I don't want to do anything to mess them up. I have 4 White Rhinos that just popped up so I'll likely do more with them. I ordered AK48 and PPP from Nirvana, looking forward to getting them started!

Greywind / Scupra - are either of you cloning?
