Hi guys,

Been a while since I posted I know a few of you out there were following the start of this grow, well now its time for a big update.

I am about 4 weeks into flowering and the buds are forming up nicely but they still seem a bit skinny ? They are currently being fed 4.5ml/l of biobizz bio bloom with 7.5 drops of baby bio per litre. They are being fed around 6 litres per day between the 6 of them in 7.5 litre pots. They are just showing the slightest signs of burning on the tips of the leaves which I consider to be about right.

I am very restricted on hight but I am now running 3 x 250 watt maxibright cfl's with 2 red and 1 blue.

The plants are all bagseed so no idea what they are but they are definately all girls.

Please note the plant with the curled up leaves, this plant is about a month or two older than the others has the thickest stalk and the worst buds of all. Any input on this plant would be awesome, I think it is majorly root bound being in such a small pot for such a long time.

You can see some of the bud heads on there and the crystals are starting as well (he says drooling).

The main question is will they fatten up a lot ?

At the moment for 750 watts of light (added the other red this week so its 500 watts of cfl up to now)they seem a little lite for 4 weeks in ? I will still more than cover setup costs and I know that HID lighting is the way but heat is too much of an issue for me.

Looking at those how long would you say till they are ready ?

They all appear to have slightly different flowering times and I think I will be chopping them over the course of about 3 weeks.

What changes would you make to try and increase yeald at this stage ?

Cheers guys,

Enjoy the bud porn ;)

My temps are currently at 81.8 and its a struggle to keep it that low. The humidity is also wayyyy tooo high at the moment at 77 percent I am adding some more ventilation in the next day or so. I am limited in hight to 4 foot. I worked it all out and because of the distance of the hps the tops of my plants would probs end up burned like this I can grow to the maximum hight of my space which is about 40 or 50 inches high because the plants can be almost touching the bulbs, it does involve some adjustment though. The lumens per square inch I am kicking out is pretty damn high and its 100 percent par :)

i think you got more problems that supersede the thought of fattening the buds... but the last 2 weeks or week and ahalf you want to cut the fan leaves so the plant focuses all it's energy in producing buds

Terrible advice! please don't post advice like that.

Its actually not terrible advice.

Do some research or even try defoliation on a plant or two and you will see. Just because you think you have some know how about how plants grow doesnt mean that defoliation doesnt work. It is used on many vegetables to increase yields and has been shown to help if done a few times during flowering.

I saw a claw shaped fan leaf, think that is over watering. The cfl should be about 1 inch from the plant and a reflector can double the light it gives off. I use clamp reflectors and measured it with lux meter. Do not even think of harvest till most all the hairs or pistils turn red or brown and shrivel up. I use a 45x scope and wait for at least 10% amber trichomes.

Hanging the lights vertical between or around the plants is another way to max the lumens going to the base of the plant. The cfls have way more light output from the sides than the bottom. Those lights have about a foot of good light coming out the sides, with reflector maybe 1.5 to 2 feet. If you know all this stuff already....

Yeah I think I got the light maximised :) I had to cut the wings off one of the reflectors to fit them all in ^_^

The Claw shaped leaves are on one plant that is about two months older than the others and Im pretty sure its root bound as the soil takes ages to dry out, the rest of my babies are not suffering from this issue. I have just stopped feeding that plant for the past couple of days hoping it will pick up.

If I were to buy a booster or something to try and fatten them up at this stage what should it be ?

I really appreciate the feedback :) God I wish I had a lumen meter to test it

I agree with yesum. Your description and picture seem to indicate you are watering too much. You are watering/feeding every day? That's probably making it difficult for the roots to breath. I am assuming you are in soil BTW. I like to let the soil dry out quite a bit between watering. How ventilation? Good air circulation is important too.

I would say to get your temps down. This helps fatten buds. Good food and big enough pots are also key. Also, buds get fatter as time goes on. so everyday closer to the end, they get fat faster. Its the last two weeks that they fill out well. be patient!!! Since you added another 250 watts of the 2700, i think you will be happy. Scope my journal
