right now I have a little soil grow going as a side project in my grow room. I have about 10 bushy little plants that are doing really well seeing how Im really not taking good care of them because well frankly Im just lazy. But there is another 3 that are stretched to holy hell and back. they have like 9 inches of stem from the dirt to the first node. none of my other plants are scraggly like these 3. can i cut the length out of them and just root the whole plant like I would a clone???? that way they could bulk up a bit more. they have almost sog themselves

It is possible to do that, but if you do they have a good possibility of dieing as cloning has about a 50/50 chance of living or dieing. At this point if you are worried about streching it might be easier to just start some new beans and just let those go or kill em. If you top em they will stop growing up wards for a while and cause them to bush out. I would go this route before trying to clone some weak plants since the less healthy they are the more likly they will die during cloning.

just bury them in a deep pot up to the first set of leaves.

i appreciate it man.
me and my partner had thought of doing this but we werent sure it was a good idea or not. In my dwc systems roots sprout out anywhere that water touches. I have actually trimmed off the first set of leaves before, and the plant grew roots all the way up to the second set of leaves after i submerged it, and had a HUGE root system. I am hoping the same will happen here as well..... and the plants are stretched for the first 2 sets of leaves so i may trim those off and bury them too.

ive done that also. i've had the main stem rot though because i think i waited to long and kept the soil to moist. but for the most part it works. :blsmoke:

what do you mean because you waited too long?
also......would that peice of stem that is buried....does it become a root or stay a stem and just grow roots out of it? me and my partner had a debate on it. he swears that the absence of light there where it used to get light makes it turn to a root. I beg to differ

it shoots roots out the sides. it will all become root. i waited to long...... the stalk was starting to become "bark like", it was getting it's hard outer surface. when i buried it it stayed to wet and rotted. i found it works better if you do it while the main stem is still green and bendy.

what makes em do that? I have had plants that sport buds 8-12 inches long before and i had to tie them up because they stayed soft stemmed. it wasnt terriblly bendy since the buds overweighted it and bent over several colas before i could tie the bitch up........but still bendy enough i could have easily tied it to the ground @ a 90 degree angle. it was only4-4 1/2 ft.
