WTF!!! light goes on and off. Help!

I upgraded last night from a 400 watt HPS to a 1,000watt. I also installed a 10,000 BTU portable AC. Tripped the breaker when I first tried to run them both. Ran an extension cord from another room to power the light. Seemed to work ok last night. Now it comes on for 2-3 minutes and goes off for 2-3 minutes over and over. I switched timers and even ran the extension chord to another room. Anybody know what the problem might be? HELP!!!

House was built in the late 80's so i dunno. Im pretty sure they are not on the same breaker or anything. I tripped it for that particular room last night when I tried to run both of them. Thats why I ran a chord from another room.

yeah it was the house breaker for that room that flipped when I tried to run both the 1,000 watt light and the AC.

Well here is another piece to the puzzle. I unplugged the AC. The light still did its on and off. So unless others can point me in a direction Im assuming I have a bad ballast or something.

mex, not having the AC in there isn't an option. I also run my lights at night. But Im running a sealed room for co2 and with a 1,000 watt light this room would heat up even in the dead of winter I imagine.

try the a/c with ur old 600w hps! and if it flips its not the 100w ballast bro

Its not throwing any breakers tonight. It also doesn't matter what else is on or off. I have already tried it with the ac unplugged and it still does the on off act. Its looking to me like a bad ballast. Ive already hooked my old 400 watt back up. I can't imagine it was good for the plants to have the lights going on and off every 5 minutes.

Yeah like I said it's not your home it's the ballast, or maybe the bulb. If it was the house it wouldn't come back on. Maybe the ballast has an auto shut off if it gets to hot? I don't know what the problem is but I know what it is not.

Well, I talked to the place I purchased it from. Apparently it was a bad sensor which senses heat in the lamp itself causing it to go on and off. I switched lamps and it ran fine last night. Then tonight the new lamp blew out completely. Is it really likely I had two bad lamps? With all the on and off issues Ive been having with this light I will be shocked if my plants don't hermie.

Maybe the sensor wasn't bad and the ballast is pushing to much power? I'm high just thinking.
