Pot size recommendations

I plan to grow papaya and aurora indica. My seeds were bought from Nirvana and both plants shouldn't get taller than 40 inches or so. Most should be shorter.

What size pots do you all recommend for plants this size? Right now, I have 2 gallon disposable pots. I'm assuming I'll have to transplant to something bigger??? I haven't started this grow yet.

I'm a new grower and I just want to make sure I'm doing a good job this time around. My new 400w is waiting patiently...:)

In general, your plants should have 1 gallon for every month the plant is alive. If your plants are 3 months old, they should be in 3 gallon pots.

That sounds exactly right. As I've gotten more experience with watering I've eliminated the peat pot and I start the seedlings out in the gallon pot, but that is tough to do just starting out - very easy to over or under water.

Keep your winter room temps in mind. One gallon may be plenty in a 55-70* scenario.

The bigger the pot, the harder it is to keep the soil warmish.
I'm using 2 gal in this scenario and the soil is taking two weeks or more to dry out enough to need water, which plants need.
Low soil temps also hampers phosphorus uptake.

Thanks all, these have helped me out quite a bit. It actually look like I bought the 1.6(something) gallon pots. I'm going to start my new babies in these after I germ the seeds. I think I can handle the watering technique and my temps are under control, should be no worries.

Thanks again...my grow journal will start soon ;-).
