hey this is gonna seem lame that i need so much help but...yall are the best that ive seen so far...

ive done some single plant cfl grows in soil and have had some good results.

my goal now is grow a pound of some dank. i have a few closets to work with. I know pretty much the basics of growing im from alaska were its legal so i learned a good bit. my questions are...

how much space is needed to produce a pound and what is the best option when it comes to lights. i was planing on gowing with a massive cfls and then switching them to a 1000 what air cool hps but i never really grew lots of plants. I would like each plant to be very thick not tall and skinny. Whith the cfls i use (300 watt and 100 watt bulbs) my plants vegi state is very nice but the budding is only good but nothing to boast about. For example i just budded a WW and she was very pretty and wider then tall but really only gonna get about 1.5 oz. i would like to be able to harvest a pound while putting some clones back into to Vegi again. Sorry if you feel like this is a waste of your time but i have been checking the replys and info and you guys as a whole are the best and only help one would need. Any advice and i mean ANY would be a great help

my current idea is...

Lights-Veggie under CFLS
Flower?????
medium-soil (would love to try a hydro set up)
space-????
i have fans and mylar also
i will have a cammera soon too
thanks again

IMO a bunch of smaller plants that don't need to be vegged for too long is what I would do. Say 20 plants 1 per square foot/trim the bottom 1/3 of plant bare of all stems and leaves and just try to grow the main cola bud. If you get an ounce off each plant youll have over a pound. This should be doable in a 4'x5' space which should also make good use of a 1000W HPS.

well i have had great results using cfls the 300 watters are great.
i love that idea but i dont have that kinda space i have close but smaller its tall tho.the cfls and hps would be in 2 diffrent areas also... any thoughts on soil vs hydro?i currently have 2 female seeds of WW and i would love to grow those big and use clones to flower. then i could keep getting clones also...2 birds with one stone i guess.....

thanks for the input

I woud love to go over the kind of system you are loking for sounds like ya have the room/s that I deal with. It's my bday today so ill catch up tp ya tomarrow and figure shit out, lata.

Why don't you start by telling me what your space limits are and the equipment you have to work with at the moment. Plus maybe what you have to invest into it now. We will go from there.

You NEED big lights to grow the big buds you are looking for in the flowering rooms. The bigger the better. One pound can be grown under one 1000w HPS easily with soil or hydro. Do 9 plants in up to 3 gallon containers, cram it all as close together as you can and work from there. When you get more experienced and run proper nutrients then you can get up to 2lbs per 1000w.

For the fastest turn around time you would want hydro, like bubble buckets, hempy buckets, or if you have the money and space aquamist systems. With a table like an aquamist you would then be doing lots of small plants instead of just nine big ones. Which would you rather run and how many plants you are comfortable taking the risk with? You could have over 100 plants doing a couple sea of green grows. Or there are cheap DIY ebb and flow tables that are really simple too.

You should absolutely without a doubt first buy SeeMoreBuds videos and watch them over and over. He shows you step by step and piece by piece other grows large and small, from the best to the most basic. Worth every penny and sure to pay off big time if you do buy them.

For veg I don't know how well those big cfl's will work, but a lot of people are just using 4' flourescents so really it doesn't take much. If you want the most and fastest growth in veg then nothing replaces metal halide but doing clones you often have more time than you need waiting for flowering rooms to open up so super fast growth in veg isn't always that big of a deal. Depends on if you want big trees or a small sea of colas.

Getting those videos is like getting under _many_ wings and like being able to go to lots of growers houses and seeing first hand how they do it.

thanks for the input...

well. I can spend probbly close to a thousand if need be. I was thinking of using half of my bedroom to grow in. I already have a few closets i can grow in also. I just saw "urban growers" mail bag on youtube. He had buds as big as his forearm it was crazy.

I have never seen the videos i have read a book of his though and that dude is smart as hell..very helpfull to me.

I was thinking of trying hydro. All my grows have came from seeds or donated clones. Now i live in GA and i have 2 WW seeds that i know are fems. I would love to get a garden started that can keep on giving. Problem is i have never cut clones or any of that stuff.

i have a 3ft by 3ft closet. i use a 600 watt hps light w/hortilux bulb . i
can veg 10 blueberries 5 weeks in square perfect pots {square because fits in small area like a jigsaw puzzle} that are 2 gallon . pure indicas will stay more in thier little space better , even if 4 branches are the case.
100 to 105 days ,one pound. i've done it many times. a pound is my goal
each time . i'm not greedy. do not buy feminized seeds. those things are cursed. use two pacs of reg. put in 5" by 5" pots after transplant . grow two weeks , start flowering. in about 10 to 14 days sexes will appear. throw out the males , transplant females to perfect pots . go back to veging for at least 10 to 14 days. then flower till finished. :weed:

I personally don't have any issues with feminized seeds, but I only will buy them from a couple certain breeders. If you want to go hydro right off the bat, its all up to you, but I have learned alot with soil and didnt feel confortable jumping right into hydro since there is definetely less room for error. After a few harvests I felt I was ready to do hydro, but just havent built the kind of system I want yet. If you do decide hydro, ya still have some decisions to make, bubblepopnics, areoponics, drip, flood ect, there are many types of hydro systems. Do ya have a preference?

Well if you don't want to buy the SeeMoreBuds video's then try greenmans "I grow chronic" for free on youtube. It's in several parts but it's worth it, watch the whole thing. He shows you an ideal setup for someone new to hydro, how to clone, how to pop seeds, how to build your own hydro system, everything you need to know to get started at least.

You will enjoy watching it I think.

even the pros say that organic buds are stronger than hydro. but they also say you get a bit more per plant with hydro. plus the cost , the upkeep. no thanks. fox farms come out with ocean organic meal, and its the best i have ever seen . its real gritty for good root growth and its hard to over water because no matter wat amount you water it, it will stil drain .

no it actually wont. It will sludge up. I had a problem with this so adding extra perelite is key. And you are correct about soil being better than hydro. Any caregiver I get stains from are all about the soil.

Since I have 2 flower rooms I want to do hydro in one and keep the other soil. The only issue I have with soil is the dump runs to get rid of it afterword and having to go buy tons every so often, plus I like a lab like atmosphere, dirt gunks that up. But on the otherhand if I had to choose one, it would be soil. I have hard to many times that yield is higher, quality is the same and harshness is up while taste is down. I like good tasting smoke so soil is neccessary for the headstash at least.
