The Producer by bcnl

Hi, I have had this product for awhile with mixed success. Sometimes awesome, sometimes banging my head off the wall. My one and only problem is with res temps, I was using 2 litre plastic water bottles frozen (3 at a time). The problem is they would melt quickly and not keep my res temps stable, not to mention if I sleep in for work and forget to change them. I have had 3 seperate issues with root rot which leads me to the question of would a 1/15th chiller to maintain my res temps help with this issue? I do have a portable ac in the room but even with the door to the producer open the res climbs as high as 85 degrees. I want to be able to keep the door close because of odour and noise. I have been doing some research and jbj 1/15th looks nice and is quiet but I have yet to source out a quiet pump if I do decide to go this route.

Any help would be appreciated.....

i own one also.seems like a little to much work with the bottles.do you run the box during the day? i run mine at night as the box runs cooler.i guess you could invest in a chiller, but try running it at night and see what the temps are..iv'e had my box since 2009 and i am over it,cant wait to sell it and get a grow tent..

OMG why is it the painfully obvious solution was right under my f'ing nose. You absolutely nailed it Mephisto all I have to do is change the time on the timer to have it come on at say 7pm and off at 11am for veg and even better for flowering at 12/12 7pm to 7am.

Two questions since you own one roughly the same age as mine......did you install a collar and flex tube to dump the hot air? Also I am assuming you did not get the covers for the mesh pots what do you use as I am finding tinfoil a complete pain in the ass.

Thanks for your time.....much appreciated!!!!!!!!

haha,no problem bud!save yourself some $$ and veg your girls under T5 lights..i bought collars from my local hydro shop and had to do a lil drilling to modify them but no biggie,i then ran the ducting to push the hot air out of the room if not it's gonna be a 800 watt heater..i dont use foil as i believe it would just create a heat spot.spend the $5-$10 on rw covers http://www.discount-hydro.com/sunleaves-rockwool-block-covers/ what type of nutes are ya using?

Hey man thanks for another post :) you lost me on the t'5s I use a higher lumeon light then the one supplied with the box, same type a huge compact florescent. I saw the add on from bcnl a rip off in my opinion I work as a building operator and have access to ballasts and such, I made two t-5 lights that I sit on top of the res cover for more lighting for both veg and flowering. I drilled a hole in the side of mine and ran a small compressor and extra airstones to the res I found the supply from the box minimal at best and I added a ph nanny for good measure. My one and only problem was root rot from not dumping the heat load from the producer and from running it during the day. I am gonna pick up the collars and give this another go, I got so frustrated it has been a year since I have even tried to use the box.

For nutes I basicly follow the guidelines in the manual, if I have run out of anything I just skip it and carry on any tips? I am at astand still until I have a piece replaced on my unit but bcnl has yet to reply to me it has been a week, personally I find they can't be bothered as I am not spending 6k on a new unit which ticks me off a bit I attached a pic of the plastic piece. Wait a sec time out......I can run exrta flex tubing from my compressor and run that instead the air being dumped in the ballast area can only help cool them off and after all it has a fan to exhaust the heat sound good?

I need to get a mother plant going but that is another story for another time.........thanks for the link for the covers!

:)

Have any of you ever used Med-Man's nutes? http://growyourownmedicine.blogspot.com/2011/12/med-man-brand.html

I've spoken with him via email several times. Nice guy, extremely knowledgeable. Thinking about implementing some of his technique + nutes in the future as he's definitely mastered the Producer on several different accounts.
