Nutrient Questions...GH vs Advanced Nutes

Can anybody offer advise on Advanced Nutes? I've used GH 3 part (Micro, Grow, Bloom) for some years and deceided to try Advanced Nutrients. I have their 3 part (Micro, Grow, Bloom) along with some Hornby's Big Bud and Carboload. The mixing instructions say it can be done several ways.....the old 3,2,1 veg, and 1,2,3 Flower, OR follow their suggestions on their website (which looks like equal parts of M,G,B...the amounts depending on what week) OR....."for you old school growers mix it as you would GH nutes". As far as I can see those are 3 different directions. What works best for you guys using Advanced?

When I follow the GH mix (BD97's recipe from way back) I end up with about 600ppm whereas the AN web site is suggesting that their solution will be anywhere from 1000ppm to 1500ppm. Are these nutes so different that I should shoot for their recommendation or should I still continue with the PPM that works well with GH nutes.

I know 600ppm seems low but these are aeroponic systems and anything above 600-700 causes nute burn.

Lastly....any comments on Carboload or Dr Hornby's Big Bud?

I use an nutes sensi and I know that AN works of the .7 conversion scale, where as GH works of the .5 or hanna scale. So, when AN gives you a count of 1610 ppm it would be comparable to 1150 ppm on the scale that GH (.5 conversion) uses. You are still higher, but it's not so far off anymore. I drip feed mine in flower about 2400 ppm (.7 scale) or 1750ppm (.5 scale) of which 1200 ppm (.7) is sensi ab, the rest is additives, with no sign of burn. I'm a noob though and no little about aeroponic feeding.

Sorry Gohydro, I wish I could help, but I'm still in the middle of my first grow and do not even know what the nutes do that I feed my plants,lol.
I run a lot of stuff:

Week 6 Flower
Sensi AB 10.5ml
Protect 5ml
CalMag 5ml
Superthrive B1 2ml
N.U.T.S 5ml
Multi Enzym (up to week 5 of flower) 2.5ml
Drip Clean .5 ml
Flora Nectar 5ml
B'Cuzz Bloom Stim. 4ml
Potash 5ml
Compost Flora Tea 2.5ml

Soon Overdrive & PK 13/14

I'm sure that a lot of this stuff is overkill but since I'm a noob I decided to go with the recopy of my hydro shop guy. He says he has been fine-tuning this for several years. Once I get a few good crops under my belt I'll start to experience with this a little to see if it is really necessary :mrgreen:

Thanks again Unity. I've done some more research,talked to several hydro growers/shops and have spoken with the mfg. So far the the recommendations are all AN products:

Sensi A&B
Dr Hornby's Big Bud
Carbo Load
B-52
VooDoo Juice

I'm not quite a noob (been doing this on and off for many years) but the whole aeroponics thing is new to me. Although there is no "magic potion", the above contents seem extremely effective (not to mention reltaively expensive when compared to GH) and highly popular. What strain are you growing. Maybe we can compare notes.

Bubblegum
Chrystal

Papaya and Hindu Kush on the next go 'round.

i love big bud and carbo loard and overdrive! i just follow the adv. nut. calculator on their website. i usually start my ppm at 450 at the beginning of flowering and usually end around 1200.

I actually wanted to do a comparison grow with all the additives and no additives. I made a moms of the two pheno types I'm growing and was going to take clones of the better producer and let one of them have all the arm injections it wants and the other one just Sensi AB and see what happens,lol

Then I'm thinking that people most likely have done this, but I still have to find their posts,lol!

What I'd like to do is grow a pure Sativa (if that exists for indoors???) and one of my Arjan's haze clones. My best friend wants to grow the pure Indicas since he has less space.

I wish I had moooooooooooooore roooooooooooooooom to grow, I'm so addicted it's worrying,lol.
