Forgive the interruption: In case you're not aware, marijuana is curing cancer. There is a guy from Canada (he is currently living in exile in Europe) that extracted the essential oils from indica strains. Patients injested an amount about the size of a grain of rice three or four times daily (not even enough to get high on) and within a few months, THEY WERE CANCER FREE!!!! It didn't matter what kind of cancer; brain, lung, pancreatic, cervical, skin....it worked. It also cures other diseases. Please look into it.

If you aren't doing this already, will you please produce some and try it on your patients? You can treat them AND cure them.

Also, please do everything you can to spread the word! This site is so huge, it may be impossible to inform everyone with one thread.

This could strike a fatal blow to anti-MJ pundits, the largest of which are the pharmaceutical companies. But most importantly, your patient will beat cancer and survive.

maybe you should include my post here so people will actually take you seriously . . . .

and this one basically talks about what I said about the cannabinoid receptors working against cancer

it's gonna take me a while to find the one that said CB2 killed it, but I will find it soon, but for now those two above are very good.

ah, I think this is the one that helped me draw that conclusion . . . .

yep, lots of people didn't believe me when I just told them about the pheonix tears . . . . only when I started pulling out research articles people actually took me seriously on that one. . .

they first knew about this in the mid 70's in the US. funding for the research as withdrawn though. also in the year 2000 spanish scientists proved the cancer curing properties of THC on rats. However it did not work in 20% of cases, and in only 20% of cases was there a full cure. the other 60% just lived longer than they were supposed to.

show me the research or it's heresay . . . .

by my estimates . . . . because of how populated the cannabinoid receptors are in our systems . . . . atleast 70+% of cancers can be cured by cannabinoids . .

but because of the nature of mutations, there will always be cancer that cannot be cured with cannabinoids . . . only a large percentage by my estimation . . .

Read that... if that doesn't mention the 70's i'll find another copy of that story. it's the same one... it's been circulating for a while now.

The term medical marijuana took on dramatic new meaning in February, 2000 when researchers in Madrid announced they had destroyed incurable brain tumors in rats by injecting them with THC, the active ingredient in cannabis.

The Madrid study marks only the second time that THC has been administered to tumor-bearing animals; the first was a Virginia investigation 26 years ago. In both studies, the THC shrank or destroyed tumors in a majority of the test subjects.

Most Americans don't know anything about the Madrid discovery. Virtually no major U.S. newspapers carried the story, which ran only once on the AP and UPI news wires, on Feb. 29, 2000.

The ominous part is that this isn't the first time scientists have discovered that THC shrinks tumors. In 1974 researchers at the Medical College of Virginia, who had been funded by the National Institute of Health to find evidence that marijuana damages the immune system, found instead that THC slowed the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice - lung and breast cancer, and a virus-induced leukemia.

The DEA quickly shut down the Virginia study and all further cannabis/tumor research, according to Jack Herer, who reports on the events in his book, "The Emperor Wears No Clothes." In 1976 President Gerald Ford put an end to all public cannabis research and granted exclusive research rights to major pharmaceutical companies, who set out - unsuccessfully - to develop synthetic forms of THC that would deliver all the medical benefits without the "high."

The Madrid researchers reported in the March issue of "Nature Medicine" that they injected the brains of 45 rats with cancer cells, producing tumors whose presence they confirmed through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). On the 12th day they injected 15 of the rats with THC and 15 with Win-55,212-2 a synthetic compound similar to THC. "All the rats left untreated uniformly died 12-18 days after glioma (brain cancer) cell inoculation ... Cannabinoid (THC)-treated rats survived significantly longer than control rats. THC administration was ineffective in three rats, which died by days 16-18. Nine of the THC-treated rats surpassed the time of death of untreated rats, and survived up to 19-35 days. Moreover, the tumor was completely eradicated in three of the treated rats." The rats treated with Win-55,212-2 showed similar results.

The Spanish researchers, led by Dr. Manuel Guzman of Complutense University, also irrigated healthy rats' brains with large doses of THC for seven days, to test for harmful biochemical or neurological effects. They found none.

"Careful MRI analysis of all those tumor-free rats showed no sign of damage related to necrosis, edema, infection or trauma ... We also examined other potential side effects of cannabinoid administration. In both tumor-free and tumor-bearing rats, cannabinoid administration induced no substantial change in behavioral parameters such as motor coordination or physical activity. Food and water intake as well as body weight gain were unaffected during and after cannabinoid delivery. Likewise, the general hematological profiles of cannabinoid-treated rats were normal. Thus, neither biochemical parameters nor markers of tissue damage changed substantially during the 7-day delivery period or for at least 2 months after cannabinoid treatment ended."

Guzman's investigation is the only time since the 1974 Virginia study that THC has been administered to live tumor-bearing animals. (The Spanish researchers cite a 1998 study in which cannabinoids inhibited breast cancer cell proliferation, but that was a "petri dish" experiment that didn't involve live subjects.)

In an email interview for this story, the Madrid researcher said he had heard of the Virginia study, but had never been able to locate literature on it. Hence, the Nature Medicine article characterizes the new study as the first on tumor-laden animals and doesn't cite the 1974 Virginia investigation.

"I am aware of the existence of that research. In fact I have attempted many times to obtain the journal article on the original investigation by these people, but it has proven impossible." Guzman said.

In 1983 the Reagan/Bush Administration tried to persuade American universities and researchers to destroy all 1966-76 cannabis research work, including compendiums in libraries, reports Jack Herer, who states, "We know that large amounts of information have since disappeared."

Guzman provided the title of the work - "Antineoplastic activity of cannabinoids," an article in a 1975 Journal of the National Cancer Institute - and this writer obtained a copy at the University of California medical school library in Davis and faxed it to Madrid.

The summary of the Virginia study begins, "Lewis lung adenocarcinoma growth was retarded by the oral administration of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabinol (CBN)" - two types of cannabinoids, a family of active components in marijuana. "Mice treated for 20 consecutive days with THC and CBN had reduced primary tumor size."

The 1975 journal article doesn't mention breast cancer tumors, which featured in the only newspaper story ever to appear about the 1974 study - in the Local section of the Washington Post on August 18, 1974. Under the headline, "Cancer Curb Is Studied," it read in part:

"The active chemical agent in marijuana curbs the growth of three kinds of cancer in mice and may also suppress the immunity reaction that causes rejection of organ transplants, a Medical College of Virginia team has discovered." The researchers "found that THC slowed the growth of lung cancers, breast cancers and a virus-induced leukemia in laboratory mice, and prolonged their lives by as much as 36 percent."

Guzman, writing from Madrid, was eloquent in his response after this writer faxed him the clipping from the Washington Post of a quarter century ago. In translation, he wrote:

"It is extremely interesting to me, the hope that the project seemed to awaken at that moment, and the sad evolution of events during the years following the discovery, until now we once again Îdraw back the veilâ over the anti-tumoral power of THC, twenty-five years later. Unfortunately, the world bumps along between such moments of hope and long periods of intellectual castration."

News coverage of the Madrid discovery has been virtually nonexistent in this country. The news broke quietly on Feb. 29, 2000 with a story that ran once on the UPI wire about the Nature Medicine article. This writer stumbled on it through a link that appeared briefly on the Drudge Report web page. The New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times all ignored the story, even though its newsworthiness is indisputable: a benign substance occurring in nature destroys deadly brain tumors.

Raymond Cushing is a journalist, musician and filmmaker. This article was named by Project Censored as a "Top Censored Story of 2000."

good stuff man, thanks for posting it!

a little side info . . .

my understanding of it is this:

the mutation (cancer) expresses CB2 receptors on the outside of the cell . . . . when activated by an agonist that prefers the CB2 receptor (like CBD) it causes the main blood vessel of the cancer cell to SHUT DOWN.

well that isn't an area of study for me particularly so i have no real idea what you just said. I'll take your word for it.

er, I thought I said it rather simply but let me elaborate . . . .

there are cannabinoid receptors, CB1 and CB2. . . CB2 is typically expressed on immune cells, liver cells, and others, CB1 is pretty much prominent in the brain.

when cancer mutates, it has a high likelyhood of having some sort of cannabinoid receptor system expressed somehow . . .

and for some reason, this works against the cancer. that I truly do not understand, but I attribute that to the mere complexity of the protein . . . . .

anyways don't know if that helped you or not but hopefully it'll help /someone/.

I always looked at it like, not that i've looked intot his properly, but the human body has natural cannabinoids, called endo cannabinoids... these work to stave off diseases like virus' and even cancers. When we smoke weed we simply hijack the endo-cannabinoid pathways with our own cannabinoids and these work in the same way as our body's natural cannabinoids. Like when cocaine hijacks the endorphins.

I don't really understand the receptor part though...

well actually our endocannabinoids are cannabinoid receptor /antagonists/

whereas the phytocannabiniods (from the plant) are cannabinoid receptor /agonists/ the difference between the two is like a literally entirely opposite function . . . like turning the receptor on in reverse I suppose you could say.

I don't really think the endocannabinoids do much for stopping cancer compared to phytocannabinoids that are cannabinoid receptor agonists . . . I think the agonists are the only ones that have been found to cure cancer . . . though I may be wrong because I've heard some stuff about anandamide (endocannabinoid, cannabinoid receptor antagonist) doing stuff like that too, but I'd say the agonists are much more effective.

well I have put hash oil directly on one of my moms moles and it completely came off . . . . put some on a healthy mole and it left it alone . . . I even have pictures . . but I don't think thats necessary here.

it'd be cool to hear someone who cured a terminal cancer and actually has /proof/ of it . . .

That's success in my eyes. The hash oil is hugely successful against skin cancers apparently. Rick Simpson said his melanoma (or whatever type) cleared in four days. For a cancer that kills people like skin cancer does, that's phenominal.

I would like to bump this thread as often as possible. It slipped to the 2nd page overnight and today while I was at work. Anybody with suggestions on where else to place this information? I'm just not confident that even people that already believe in the 'powers of hemp' are aware that the oil extracts are CURING, not just treating, cancer.

I knew waking and baking was part of a healthy diet. does smoking MJ cancel out the cancer sticks? also in terms of making paper 4.1 acres of trees make the same amount of paper as 1 acre of hemp. Conspiracy, maybe? There's a lot more going on in our country than we know. I do not think they will allow it to be legalized.

nah, smoking cannabis and ciggs will make it possible to form cannabinoid resistant cancer.

think about it, if you're killing cancer cells with cannabinoids and forming them over and over . . . eventually a cannabinoid resistant one will form . . . which is why I've switched entirely to vaporizing.

hemp makes paper without even trying . . . if you ever get a cannabis stem split it in half . . . .the white stuff in there is natural pulp that is already white and can be made into paper effortlessly . . . . it will definitely take over paper from trees if it's ever industrially legalized . . .

Bump. I've gone to learn more about Rick Simpson and his Phoenix Tears Hemp Oil, which can be made by anyone. Evidently, at the request of Jack Herer before he died, Rick Simpson would be his replacement as head of the Hemp Movement. He had left Canada because his home was raided once again by the RCMP, and there is a warrent for his arrest. I believe he is in Amsterdam now, however, he said that he would probably end up in South America where he can grow hemp and make the medicine he needs to live.

There is a large amount of people that are making the oil now, but I feel we need to continue to get the word out both to those that are pro-hemp and those that look at it as dangerous, illicit, and something that should remain illegal like I did not too long ago. I don't mean that I was anti-hemp, quite the contrary, but that I had an underlying belief that while smoking it, I was doing something that wasn't right. Now the light is on. I see now that hemp is the most medicinal plant on the face of the earth. IT FUCKING CURES CANCER!!!! If we don't spread the word, we're doing those that will die without ever knowing about it a disservice.
