Can I make a sugg? When u move them to the 18 gal.... Put a small pump without feeding tubes on there. Its uses a little power but it keeps the water moving. In turn keeping ur solution mixed givin them equal nute absorption and it helps maintain a steady water temp... Just a suggestion I remove my tubes once the roots hit the water and keep the pump goin

I have scrapped the plan of the 18gl, now i am thinking i will only use the 18gl to only get the roots long enough to get to the water. I went and got 2 10gl tubs and last night i measured them off in gallon incraments. I am only able to use 5gl of water in the 10gl tub due to needing the space in between the cup and the water. Once the roots are long enough to swim in the water i will switch them over to the 10gl and that will be straight DWC. Its looking like i will be doing 5 plants at a time so 1 will have 3 plants in 1 10gl and 1 will have 2 in the other 10gl. My logic behind this is lost in stonerville but its stuck in my head so i know it was a good reason to swith to this. The 18gl will have the pump and feeders but it will be only dedicated to growin roots to a good length, i still may need to tweek because now im like ok the little plants will be on slightly different feeding schedules and that may cause an issue. But hey i know i will have it together soon.

My new thing now is building a light statiion. I want to build something to support my cfl's on the sides of the wall and on the top. I have 12 42w cfl's so i know i got options. Work in progress.

Thanks for the sugestion any and all are welcome!

You take one of these

and one of these

700V-BOX.jpg

Available in black or cream colored at Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot and any Hardware store, about $1.69 to $1.99.
They are used to put two 42 watt CFLS in one Reflector.

I also like these:

1 to 4 Sockets Adapter A4E27

This adapter will allow 4 bulbs to be installed in one socket. Each socket on the adapter can support up to 250W, so it support up to 1000W in total.

I have seen these lined up and used in a Surge Protector:

Or try two of these :

in one of these:

One in each side. There is a socket on the bottom of this that u can not see.

One of those equals 3 sockets all 90 degrees apart.

So i have my kids germing and all is great but that 1 that i said is small but there i did a little checking last night and it looks like the thing was growing upside down. The first set of leaves (you know the ones that are not really leaves) were actually broken off and jammed in the cube. I ried to take out and flip but it was in 2 peices. Looks like it tried to turn itself around but got snagged and tore off. I wonder if it can recover from this. Pics are below of the kid thats dying a slow death and the other is 1 of my alive and kicking kids, they allready have new leaves forming! So exciting! I removed the heating pad from underneath now since they are now out but i left the dome on to keep up the humidity for now. I am going to start a small meal for them on Saturday. The hydro store i frequent has nutes thats all in 1 jug so i dont have to do any mixing are those cool? Pics are dated 9/24. Cant wait to see how many are females so i can get some clones going

Did someone give you some help or good advise? Then click this next to the Post number in each post, and leave them your name and a note.
Maybe they will give it back.

Well i just clicked yours since you are the one who got me where i am today!

What do you think about that dying kid of mine, any chance of recovery or shall i take the loss and move on?

Keep it and see what happens. As for ur plan with the 18 gal I see ur logic but it sounds like ull be creating more work for urself and more potential for stree to the plant... I'd make a nice setup that will sustain them for their whole cycle. Its not hard to move a netpot from one lid to enother. But if u go perpetual do u really wanna move 5-10 plants every 2 weeks? Eventually ull trip and drop the plant or drip water on a power strip moving them from one to the other. Take it from me lol. I'm sure these ladies will end up doing great for u whatever u decide.

So yesterday i was doing things that now i think i should not have been doing! I did a little moving things around putting up towels in my closet to get the humidity up, took the lid off, and put a fan on the lights. This morning i wake up and 2 were fallen over. The cubes were extra dry so i am assuming that it was due to the lack of water and high humidity. I wont do that again! I am hoping for a recovery, i got some water back in the cubes and i put the lid back on, basically i put it like it was before. I am going today to the hydro store and make a few purchases, i just hope those 2 slumped over kids recover from this horrible event . . .

so you did not have the water pump and feeder tubes to the cups?

Nope but i got them hooked up now! I have been thinking about this the entire weekend and i may have cause myself nute lock to MY BRAIN! I am going to update tomorrow but i will say i gave them a little food on Saturday (1/4 of what the instructions said and also gave them another hit this morning. But hey how do i check my water level the tub is very dark and i cant see the inside. I got this neat litte irrigation unit for 40 bucks from the hydro shop and it rocks, even has adjustable valves to control water flow and i got a extra littl hose to drain water! I only have 2 little kiddies growing due to my involuntary slaughter of the other 2 and that 1 that grew upside down, Ill call them practice!

Tank should be filled about 1 1/2" below the bottom of the net pot. If it's dark put the top of your hand under the bottom of the net pot and when your wrist gets wet it's full! Don't really understand why you would not have enough light to see but let's just say sometimes late at night I check things and figure out how to do things in the dark of lights out! LOL!

thats a great idea. . thx! I think its the angle that it sits in my closet and then the thought of my feeder tubes coming undone really gets to me when im lifting up that lid ...i dont think i got those hoses long enough but i will correct when i do my first drain. I am tryna come up with a way to rig the lid to something like rope or something, and wrap it aroung the clothes hanger bar and make lifting it up easier. Maybe firrst timer nervousness!

But on another note i got more leaves growing . . so exciting!

Thou duth worry too much! LOL! Been there, done that!

On the prop-up - S hook tied to a string tied to a hanger or any solid point! How that for a little creative engineering! LOL!

Thats the idea i was having but i was thinking with string i would have no way to tie it down to give it air suspension where if i got some cheap chain links i could hook the links together with like one of those pad lock hooks or any type of metal hook and that will hold it up in the air. I am also brainstorming a similar idea for a few pieces of 2x4's so i can get those clamp reflectors hooked up over my kiddies. In regards to my water measuring issue i think i am going to make a dipstick, mark the water levels at gallon incraments and when i need to know my level just drop it in the tank wallah! Now i just have to figure out the best material to use.

The funny thing about this is the amount of money you could end up spending on your set up. . .and this is only the veg area, i have not even begun the flower area. I am sure it will all pay off in the end!

I jsut spent about $100 on nutes and new air stones amd air tubes for my 8th grow, so I will have $100 in a pound of dried manicured buds, worth about $6400.
My first grow I had $300 in it, and my 2nd, I doubled everything but not again since then.

OH, it will pay off. I figure with everything I've bought and rebought I'm at about 2k total expense. However, I like to experiment and buy all kinds of stuff I realy don't need. I'm somewhere around 2 1/2 lbs for my first 5 grows ( First one was pitiful - 1 plant out of 6 survived my noobdom and that was before I found RIU). If I stopped buying stuff right now I could do another 5 grows with no problem. 5lbs for 2k is a deal!

You'll figure out you propping problem! LOL! As far as measurement of water, why not take a gallon jug and fill it 6 times and mark the level with a sharpie. You can even mark it after each gallon if you want.
