reservoir temperature?? day/night temps

hi !!! what temp should a dwc reservoir be?? i hear its supposed to be cooler at night and arround 70f at light!! anyone know if this is acurate??

65F or so up to 75F give or take a little bit
The plant starts to die at around 90F.
The colder the nutrient solution, the less up take by the roots
same thing when it gets to warm, theres less up take by the roots.
(the plant slows down). I think you could go down as low as 50F
I think thats about the point where you start to kill it.

Cutting should be 75F to 85F. Same thing around 90F you start to
kill the cutting, but a higher water temp say 85F makes your cutting root faster.

I would not let it get over 70F... 72 was when i got root rot... (in DWC system) you can get some additives that are supposed to prevent other biological growth and root rot, but 65-70 is ideal.

also, the closer to 65 you can keep it the more oxygen it holds...

ebb/flow systems are not so sensitive to res temp - you could go up to 75, but i wouldnt cross that.

What this guy says and if you are using DWC it's real important.

Here's my version.

Never let your res temp climb past 75f. 68-70f is best. And res water in your 80's is NOT okay at any stage of your grow.

I realize this is old, but figured I would give my 2p. Imo mid to low 60's is optimal. As said before the lower temp can hold more oxygen, and help keep any root rot and other bacteria that may grow in the res at bay. However more important than the temp you choose is being able to maintain that temp. We try our best to mimic nature to a T. Light cycles, temps, humidity, CO2, VPD among others.
In nature the ground temperatures is constant and varies a degree maybe 2 tops through out the year. For that reason I have an aquarium heater to keep it warm in the night time, and wart chiller to keep it down during the daytime. When you have a big swing in the temps everyday it puts a lot of stress on the plant and it shows in the end. Both quality and quantity. Depending how you look at it my initial cost for equipment was about $160. After that it is just what power the 300w heater uses when it is on and the extra load on my freezer to freeze my daily ice to keep the water going through the chiller cold and running the pump. Well worth the cost because the ladies love it and reward me in the end.
