blue dream and white widow

done or not or close or what? no body seems to give any good input. they just say to check the trichomes and i do..they are still clear..the hairs are starting to turn brown orangish brown and curl and retract back into the calyxs. looking at the photos i just took with my camera with a flash in normal light they look like they are nearing ripe...

please help me this is my first grow and so far everything is turning out 1000% better than i ever thought i could grow for first time.

the order keeps getting messed up with the pics..so the first set are the white widow

both are at 7 weeks exactly on april 9th 2011...400 watt hps, heavy 16 bud a and b and molasses every watering and feeding. and the white widow crossed with og kush.

I cut some BW recently I cut at around 65 days, it turned out great. Super dense and very tasty. You can check my journal to compare pics, I have the pre harvest shots in there.... but yeah I'd give it nine weeks.

Hey there bud, your blue dream looks slightly ahead of your white widow. I think you said in your PM that the white widow was an OG cross. I would say anything with some OG in it has got to be left until around the week 9 makr. Looking at the first set of photos which you said are the white widow, like tje22 said, they have a bit to go (couple weeks at least) A lot of people will say check the trichomes, but the general look of the plant is also a tell tale sign. Calyxes start to swell and round, stigma (hairs) also curl and start to receed back into the calyx. When this has happened, pull them girls down.

I would say another week or so of feeding, and the way I do it is just a couple of waterings in the last week (i don't flush as such)

Any more info just gives a shout.

Good luck and great job for the first grow!!!

Peace, DST

hey dst,

thanks a lot for the info you've provide and thanks for looking at my thread and pictures. the white widow is crossed with og so you say 9 weeks? i checked the trichomes today and i'd say about 25% are milky....so 9 weeks might be exactly what it needs. the blue dream is much further along than the white widow, even though they started same time. the blue dream trichomes are the same, 25% milky. the hairs are starting to turn brown and orange on both and retract back to their calyxes.

this is my first grow that isn't a joke, i never thought with what i have i would grow plants that are so resinous like my two are. i love plants and everything they do and just love everything botany..

its my passion, and i hope to make it a full time career maybe, with a degree in botany or advanced horticulture. i also have so many marijuana books and so much info on plants, i learn so much and learn more and more every day.

cut a little nug and taste also cut another little nug to do a taste test against the rest of the plant when you cut it (only if your keeping the strain). This will help give you a harvest window for next time and how you want your buds to finish.

I have just started harvesting my blue dream, and although they say it is a 10 week strain, I have had to wait until week 14 to start harvesting. I kept checking the trichs and didn't see any amber trichs at all until week 12 or 13. That said, it may be because I am using 400 watt lamps. (4 in a 8x8 grow room) . Whatever the reason I found that the last two weeks showed some good filling out on the buds, so it was worth the extra wait. I grew White Widow several times, and these will definately tell you when it is time to harvest by the trichs. I think it was week 12 or so that the calyxes started to swell and one or one and a half weeks latter the trichs started turning amber. It was supposed to be a 8 week strain, but again it took almost a month longer for mine to finish out. Don't try and rush it, let the trichs tell you when.
That said I did have a strin where the trichs never did start turning ( another 8 week strain ) where I ended up chopping them at week 15 even though the trichs where around 60% cloudy 40% clear. It turned out to be a very good smoke regardless. I'm thinking it was C-99 but I can't be sure. ( Cloudy brain cells I guess :). If you want the couch lock than wait longer, If you like the cerebral high, than earlier is fine.
