Professor Membrane's Patented Microwave Quick-Dry

Many of you are already screaming at me, calling me a novice, a hack, or worse, but I say only read on, for this technique has reached validation after strict scrutiny by multiple parties.

Let me also say hello to all my loyal fans, followers, and students, the final move to our Center for Cannabis Botany and Undead Studies has required a remote, underground facility in order to properly isolate our specimens, which has unfortunately left me without creature comforts like internet forums and television, though the Zombies seem to love their new cave.

Many of us from time to time are afflicted with a small problem, we wish to sample flowers cut from our ladies which are not yet ready for consumption. While home made drying devices made from simple computer fans and rubbermaid tubs can speed up your drying time (my harvests spend less than 7 days hanging before they're brittle and ready for jars thanks to my dryer unit) there is still a period of limbo in which a person can be afflicted with the simple but eternally nagging curses of curiousity and craving, and this technique is for those periods. This is not a technique for you to dry large amounts of material, this is not a technique for proper curing, this is a quick dry technique for being able to sample product that would otherwise not be ready while retaining most of its positive qualities.

Here is the process step by step, please forgive my lack of photos, that equipment is still packed.

1. Select the flowers which you wish to quick-dry. It is not recommended you attempt to dry more than a single "bowl" worth of material at a given time.
2. Place a folded paper towel on the bottom of your microwave, if you have grating, place this towel onto a plate.
3. Place the flowers to be dried atop this paper towel, and cover with a second. If you wish, you may fold a single paper towel so that it covers the flowers above and below.
4. Microwave on standard settings (med-high or high temp) for 5 seconds at a time, do not microwave for more than five seconds at a time, this is the key to the method. By heating the flowers slowly, we are actually boiling the water out of the flowers but not vaporizing THC, because water vapor forms at much lower temperatures than Cannaboid vapors.
5. Continue microwaving until all but a little moisture is gone from the flowers, most finished product has some moisture present in order to smooth its smoking, just like tobacco and other smokables, so try not to remove all traces of moisture, as it can leave you wish a harsher end result than is needed.

Most flowers will be done in 30-90 seconds, depending on density, if your flowers have already had some drying time, less might be required.

For those of you still cursing me, I can only say, try the method, and you will be pleasantly surprised by the results, you will obtain a product that has received little to no reduction in potency, that is only sometimes harsh, and that retains a little but not much of its characteristic flavor profiles.

Booooo wait till the end.... once you start you'll just keep choppin.. you wont have shit left by harvest. why smoke a bowl bud that will eventually mature into an 1/8 that is four times as potent

I've tried both ways, waiting for the dry cure is 10 x more worth it to me.

When your growing more than a few plants, or growing trees, its fine to take a bottom bud here and there. I personally don't think fresh bud get you that high so i tend not to smoke it. I'll grab some trim and some popcorn buds and butane wash or iso wash it...

This technique does work although it's better to put your microwave on a low power setting. It's even better to wait & do it properly.

I tried this once, out of smoke ya know. The only prob was I had little purple sparks comming from my bud? Assumed it was the nutes? Maybe I'll try again now that I have water probs straightened out.

lol, I do the same thing with a hotairgun. Its not prefered, but sometimes you gotta smoke, and there's nothing else to be had. I put the stuff in a big sieve.. (that thing you sift flour through... omg. some days my english just won't kick in properly.

I've pinched off a few buds prematurely too. When your out of smoke you want it all the more. I put mine in the microwave and dried it, but I've also just smoked it straight off the branches, hard to keep it lit because it's soo wet, burned my throat too but I caught a decent buzz.

I agree with those who say waiting is ALWAYS worth it!

Your regularly dried bud, or buds from your air circulating dryer, will always be better than microwaved or other quick-dry buds, this method is for indulging curiosity and for helping people between harvests space themselves out, nothing more.

Thanks for the love, I hope everything goes well in other lands, recently some of the undead escaped through a side cavern we were unaware of and infected a local trading post, 2 dozen new subjects acquired but the cleanup took days :(

i do it a bit different. i use a micro-safe bowl with a dry paper towel in the bottom, weed on towel, damp paper towel on top, 50% power and 30 second intervals. always make sure the bottom towel is dry and the top one damp as each 30 second run will dry the top one and wet the bottom.
