Carbon air filter needed in closed grow?

for a totally closed grow... you will need co2....how u plan on gettin rid of the smell when ur in flower or that doesnt matter

Already have the CO2 part taken care of... Not worried about smell as its just me and wife in the house... grow tent is in the basement. I still dont see how a filter in the room is going to get rid of the smell(not that I care about smell) cause its not like the plants just stop creating smell? Maybe its just me but I feel like a fan running 100% will not rid the smell 100%... so why spend the $ to run the fan?

I know they work I used em in my old room for exhaust... but your shit doesnt keep putting out a stanky stank smell... the ladies just continue to pump out stank all the time so I just have doubts that the carbon filter is going to work so good that when I open my tent its not going to smell. Either way if the only reason to have one in there is to rid the tent of smell Ill save myself $3-400 for a filter and fan and the electric to run it. Im alreayd up around $7,500 to get back in action and if I can save a few hundo right now I'm game.

Well the carbon filter is mostly used for smell. If your not worried about smell then you dont need one. But as Colonuggs said and you totally brushed off, You need Intake/Exhaust fans for your plant to get the Clean air in and the bad air out. Once the Closed space runs out of Co2 where is it gonna get the Co2 that it needs to survive. By the way, If your plant doesnt have smell by flowering time then you got shit weed man. Good luck

When is it going to run out of CO2 if I'm pumping the room full of CO2? I have yet to see a closed grow that has an exhaust/intake... that pretty much defeats the purpose of a closed grow. With your statement on "removes 85% of the smell"... I guess my issue with this is to me its black and white... it either smells or it doesnt... how can one claim its "85% less smelly in here" haha... not being a dick just to me it either smells or it doesnt.

As mentioned above in several replies, carbon filters are for stink removal only, once things get going it's going to smell. You mentioned it's just you and your wife but ever get someone coming to the door? I got home yesterday and as soon as I walked in I could smell something, I installed a carbon can and today I smell nothing. You mentioned the multiple fan set up but my question is what the relative humidity in your tent, without fresh air going in and out you may be opening the door to powder mildew problems if it gets too humid.

I'm in CO which is pretty much a desert... Humidity reading right now is 47% in my basement but my tent is not set up so I dont know if that will go up once everything is inside the tent. As far as smell... how does it escape? The only time I see it escaping is when I enter/exit the tent which isn't until lights come on at night when no visitors will be showing up. I guess I'll just get evrything up and running and play it by nose so to speak. Obviously the smells dont really start kicking in till 3-4th week of flower so I still got another month or two till I have to worry about that. I was just wondering if it served any other purpose ... you mentioned a good one with the mildew issue so Ill keep an eye on my humidity once the tent gets set up Monday. Thanks for the input Krabby

I'm running a 600 in a 4 x 4, in the AM at lights on inside the tent it's close to 70% outside 55-60% but drops pretty quick once things start to heat up. Even with a cool tube and a 6" inline fan running full it's not hard to get 82-84 degrees inside the tent. Pulling air from the roof helps keep things a little cooler with an open intake at the bottom of the tent where things are a little cooler, I exhaust both into another room.

I'm running LEDs so heat wont be an issue... if anything Im worried about having to increase the heat to get high enough to effectivly use the CO2 I'll be pumping in the tent. Im in a basement and have central air so my basement is somewhere in the 70's. Right now(without a tent) with my lights at 2ft from canopy Im getting a reading between 75-81 from night to day. Hoping with the sealed room and 2 LEDs running(only 1 now since theyre babies) it will get my temps up around the 85ish area to really take in all the CO2

I have the titan atlas 1 along with the titan regulator enroute as I type this and am going to grab my CO2 tank today. Once my tents arrive monday I'll have evrything up and running(fingers crossed). This new room set up is such a pain in the ass, I had everything all perfect in my old house but growin in NY is definitely not legal. Being that I rent the house Im in now I went with a tent/LEDs over a room with HID. I think I got everything to get rolling now just to get it all set up.

Tents don't really seal, unless you've got some special model that I've never seen.

well you should have said you were pumping Co2 into the room. And also when i said 85% of the smell is gone by a carbon filter i meant it reduces the smell to almost nothing. wasnt trying to be rude or nun :/ Also think of a ballon. you pump air into it so where does all the air go.

Read the whole thread in my 2nd or 3rd post I stated I had the CO2 part covered ... no biggie... I know you werent being rude, its all good homie you were just trying to help me out. All I know is in my research on closed grows I havent seen anyone with a designated intake/exhaust so I assumed as long as you're feeding it CO2 there's no worries.
