So let me start off by saying that I have back issues and was involved in a motorcycle accident where I was hit by a truck. So....... I have some issues carrying water up and down stairs. To solve this dilemma, I decided to design a simple and easy way to empty the water from my hydro system. The decision was made to pump the water to my bathroom, the only problem with this was that my grow tent is in my garage and my bathroom is a floor above it. To solve this issue I had to design a system with two pumps, one to bring the water out of the hydro system and over to the landing at the bottom of the stairs, and the other one to pump the water up 10 feet and over to my bathroom.
This system empties my water in less than 10 minutes and then all I have to do is suck up the rest with my wet vac.
The most expensive part of my system was the pump to bring the water up 10 feet to the second floor, otherwise it would have been a really cheap setup.
I hope at least one person finds this information useful, it really makes changing the water a breeze. I only make 3 trips up the stairs instead of 14 and my back thanks me.
PS: I use R/O water and bring those bottles in through my garage so I never have to carry any water downstairs. Just the 3 trips upstairs once a week.
