12/12 Seed to Harvest

I have just harvested 3 plants which i grew using my regular method of vegging for 4 weeks then flip to 12/12 for the remainder (usually 11-12 weeks with the strain i grow). I've hit a problem where for one reason or other my last grow ran over by a couple of weeks, those trichs just wouldn't ripen!!! Anyway, it's way to cold here during the winter to grow, so i have until mid November to finish and have enough for christmas/new year. I can start to grow again around the start of February.

I remember reading a journal on this site a while back that was about an experiment to do 12/12 seed to harvest. It was very detailed and well put together. I knew i had it bookmarked somewhere so i dug it up and over the past few days re-read the whole thing from start to finish. It was brilliant and inspirational. RandyRocket was the author, link to it is here https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/151253-12-12-seed-harvest-1-a.html . He called the thread "One Ounce Honnies". and out of 15 plants he got almost 14.5 ounces. Don't know if he's still around here or still growing for that matter. But it has me right in the mood to do this 12/12 seed to harvest myself, and i'll try and document it half as good as RR.

So here goes :D

Here's my setup.

Cabinet:
4.5' x 5' x 2' Cabinet (9'sq/45'Cubed)

Lighting:
Grow Control 400w Star Ballast.
400w HPS bulb

Ventilation:
2 x Server cabinet fans (1 Intake, 1 Exhaust)
2 x 8" Oscillating Fan
1x 6" Fan

Medium:
Peat Moss:Perlite 4:1 ratio

Nutes:
Plagron Terra Bloom Complete, NPK 2:2:4

Seeds:
10 White Widow seeds from my own stock (an ill fated 1st grow that left me with a lifetime supply of seeds). Straight into soil

Day01
Mon 3rd Sep 2012

9/10 seeds that were planted about 10 days ago have sprouted. I've transplanted to 2l pots. They'll probably stay in these for the duration of their lifetime (gonna try and replicate RandyRocket's success as much as possible). I generally plant 10 seeds with the hope of getting 5 females which i usually veg for 4 weeks first then transplant the healthiest 4 females to 20l pots (converted water-cooler bottles ;) ). We'll see how things progress before i decide for certain.

This will be an experience if nothing else. Don't know what to expect. RR got almost an ounce per plant in 11 weeks. If i can get 5 female to produce 2-3 ounces i'll be very happy. Should be enough to see me through the cold winter months to Spring.

Man I enjoy these 12-12fs grows! Starting one up for myself with CFLs soon! One 55w and 2 42w CFLs. First grow, I'm keeping it simple..if I only get 10-12 grams I'm just out for experience and some fun..can't wait for this grow to play out!

Best of luck with your grow East Coast Pro. There's nothing like the feeling of smoking your own home grow. Keep a notepad, it's the only way i could keep track of my first few grows. Write everything down :D I'll keep an eye out for a journal

Update:
Day08

Nothing major to report. All plants are doing well, no need to water yet, i will in a day or so. Gonna start to feed them after 14 days. I have Plagron Terra Bloom. I just harvested some plants that i used this stuff on for the first time. Damn, It's good shit. Got 52.1gr from a single plant. Tight fat buds, stickey as fook !!

There is only one plant that seems to have been stressed by the transplant into the bigger pots. It looks like the stem has twisted. I did damage some of the roots while transplanting. See below

Forgot to mention at the top that i have named this batch #21 to #30 (10 seeds from start)

UPDATE:
DAY15 (2012-09-17)
Fed all, 1L of 50% strenght Plagron Terra Bloom ferts.
Topped #30, Main stem stopped growing, damaged roots during transplant.

DAY17 (2012-09-19)
Destroyed #21 - MALE

DAY19 (2012-09-21)Today!
Sex is appearing in all plants. Destroyed a 100% Male on DAY17, rest look like Females, keeping a close eye on them for the next few days.

I'll post some pics of the progress so far later this evening.

Update:
DAY22

Fed all plants with 100% strength Plagron Terra Bloom.

Lookss like the remaining 8 plants are female. Will still keep a look out for bannanas over the next few days. All plants are looking healthy. They're all about between 8" and 10" tall with the exception of #30 which i topped after its root system was damaged during transplant. Here's some pics ;)
