T5 Grow..18 plants under 24 bulbs

  • Actually im running Lucas Formula (Dry Maxibloom only) plus Cal Mag and Roots Excelurator. Other than that pretty straight up simple grow.

Day 25 we will go ahead and jump in. Sorry I wasn't really taking many pics previously.

Veg was just Maxibloom and Cal Mag. 4g per gallon week 2, then 6g per gal week 3-4. I flip to flower at week 4 typically.

Medium - Sunshine Advanced #4 hybrid mix of my own with added Mykos and Coco.

I top my plants immediately at time they take roots as clones. Then transplant. 3 days later I FIM all visable tops. Then I fim all tops again at 3.5 weeks before moving to flower. This works great for me, keeps my canopy fairly level, gives me 8-12 colas per plant typically. By the time I flip to flower my plants are about 15" from the soil. Not huge but wide.

I grow with T5's using mixed spectrum bulbs. Typically ones used for Aquarium lighting.

Plants are all on a drip from a 40 gal resevoir running 1 min every 24hrs. It feed each plant approximately 2 cups of water. Ph 6.0

18 plants total in flower. 18 in veg. total plants 36 for 3 patients. Legal grow.

    Thanks for looking!

  • Day 35 (timed from the day i flipped to 12/12)

Today was day 2 of flushing with Florakleen. I run zero runoff and im watering with nothing but florakleen to about 10% runoff every 3-4 weeks. Seems to be working great.

Awesome, will be following till the end. What bulbs are you using? I might stay with T5's if your yield is decent.

I have done some research on PAR before thinking LED will be easier and more powerful. You have some Fiji Purples, Coral Waves, and Red Suns in there? Any 10,000k super blues?

I will probably just run 6 plants under 8 bulbs so nothing close to your awesome setup.

I would recommend 3 plants for 8 bulbs and no more.

I am running Blackstar 240 LEDs right next to these and they are well behind. About 60% behind actually. That's running the 240 over 2 plants.

The yields aren't near as big as they would be under HID lighting, but heat being an absolute non-issue (at least with T8's, a *little* less so with T5's) along with hardly a dent in the power bill, makes life real easy. My past two grows have been in colder climates with the temps averaging 65 inside of the cab and the trichs just grow out of control... shit gets sooooo frosted!

Fuck, I ended up failing one drug test, and nearly two others as well, a full 21 days after I'd last toked on my stash, lol.

Ok, I'll cut down on the plants and try that topping/FIM stuff. Scared I'm going to screw it up.

What bulbs do you have? You don't have to go into detail but I remember from the "LED PAR without LEDs" by Prof that some bulbs were a waste and some were discontinued. I know I need 2 Purples and I'll probably get 4 really reds(I think it was Red Suns then Coral Suns that were the best). The last 2 bulbs I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Just use the 3000k Agromax bulbs 60% and 40% a 5500-6500k bulb. The key is to keep them no more than 3-4" off the canopy.

LST or Scrog will be your friend when growing with T5.

Love these posts.

Can you tell me what my yield will be exactly and what it would have been if I would have used HID? It would help me so I don't have to figure it out. LOL

very nice looking grow. i started up my second grow a month back. first swing at led and autoflower. but i must say, i am highly considering a ho t5 unit.the one i am looking at is 4 bulbs and the site om looking at it on lets me add either four veg lights or four bloom lights or two of each. will a four bulb t5 be enough for say 2 autoflowers? also should i just run mixed spectrum the whole time? or should i do veg until i see preflowers? man i have seen first hand what t8s can do for veg. i should have went w a t5 unit instead of my ~300 dollar led. the led is cool i just feel like a t5 would be better for my set up. think ill still keep the led im sure i can find a use for it

yield debates will never end. t5 vs hid vs led, who the fk cares.
stick to what you do, and what works.

Heres one for you. I ran a timewarp under a 90w LED for all but the last 2 weeks of flower, then it went under a 600w. yielded the same Ounce that I get off running under a 600w.

lets do some math. 50 day flower. 14 c/kWh
600w - $100.80
LED to 600w - $39.11
all for the same yield.

anyway, nice grow. everything looks really healthy

I didn't really follow that but I have 2 240 watt less running alongside these. Same strain. Way way behind Te T5's with custom Spectrum

What's often overlooked when calculating energy costs are the necessary SUPPORT systems like ventilation, chillers, air conditioning, etc. that it takes to run a larger high wattage HID setup. You can't just focus in on the lighting alone.

Haven't weighed my last harvest yet...

Okay so for a few autoflowering plants for personal medicinal use, nothing LARGE. Would a 2' 4 lamp HO t5 be good @ 8k lumens? Our should I go with a 2' 6 lamp HO t5 sporting 12k lumens?

Also I planned on staggering bulb type from the start, like half bloom half veg, until I see pre-flowers then go all bloom bulbs.

What do you guys think?
