Second grow, First Journal!

Hey guys this is my first grow journal! But my second grow like I said in my Title.

First one didn't turn out too well. :wall:

before my first attempt I creeped all over this site and got loads of info from reading
and I decided it was my turn it give it a shot, Even if I failed I wouldn't care.
And I did fail

but wow I learned SO much.. Like everyone says,
no matter how much you read you'll learn more by experience.

but blah blah blah I started this grow a few weeks back not sure on the date for my first two plants I'm thinking 7/10 or so. my other two were planted 7/24

3 of them are KC brains Northern Lights.

And the other is Kannabia Special Fem

Right now my plants are under a 24 watt t5 2' tube and one 26 watt clf 6400k

Soil:
Fox Farm Ocean Forest

Nutrients:
Fox Farm Grow Big
Fox Farm Big Bloom

When they are a little bit older they will be transplanted into their new pots and placed into their new room which is 3'x3'x6' tent
with cool tube 400 watt metal halide for veg and a 400watt HPS for flower
and a 170 CFM inline fan for cooling the lamp.
and when they start to smell I will put my carbon filter

The first picture is my Kannabia Special Fem at 4 days
my second picture is my youngest Northern Lights at 4 days old also

The other two are Northern Lights at about 19 days
which one of them I topped

They currently don't have any names! if anyone can think of any shout them out!

So we are on day 7 for my youngest (NL and Kannabia Special)

Im not going to post a picture for the other two they seem the same.

Im Worried about how slow they are growing..
ive seen some threads where at 7 days they already have like 4leafs sets.,.
.
So I dont know if its the strain or if im doing something wrong.

The Kannabia seems to be on a mission to grow
but the Northern Lights seem slow.

Any suggestions?

So I decided to give an update on the other 2 plants I have which would be day 24..
(Which is a guess) I dont know their real birth date... I'm a poor father

Here are some pictures.
First is where I made the cut. FIM.
You can see some new growth coming.. i'm excited to see how it turns out.

Second is both of my oldest plants.. left one is a lot slower as you can see.. I'm not sure why.

So I just want to post another picture.. Of three of the plants

I put them outside to catch some real sun which they seemed to love!

Ill most likely be doing it again tomorrow! but for longer
they were only out there for 2 hours today before it was bed time for them ):
so tomorrow ill go for about 6 hours

Far left is my Kannabia Special at day 10

the two on the right are the Northern Lights, at day 26 :peace:

Makes me happy to see that your NL is still small at day 26, you planning on transfering it soon?.. im sure it would love a new pot.

but yes I am planning on it here soon, the store i buy my FF OF is out of stock ):
I think I have enough for 1 5 gallon bucket maybe 1 1/2 we will see.

but I dont get why one isnt really growing ): it looks healthy and all just not really much growth

So I transplanted my two oldest, day 26 into their permanent home

Im worried I might have killed the smaller one because when I was taking it out of the solo cup the soil wasn't wet enough and it kinda fell apart
and it went in the new home kinda crooked and now im scared ): :wall:

I guess we will see in the next few days if I killed her.

First went in pretty good im not worried about her.

Second is the one that got fucked up. I hope she is okay ):

So yesterday after the rough transplant she is looking happy again

they seem to love their new homes under a nice 400 watt MH

Just an update not too much has happened but they are looking really goodd

I'm in the process of making my room more optimized to being a grow room,
Im thinking of finding a new place to vent the exhaust because its kins of loud
when you stand outside by the window you can hear it,
I am planning on making a box for the inline fan

Update: I made the box, blah blah, it cut a little sound down there the air exits is still the loud part ):
I cant think of any way to make it not as loud, I even tried a Styrofoam cooler to try and muffle the sound but nope ): maybe if I insulate it with like cotton or something...
we will see.

Update of an Update: So I made the hole bigger on the Styrofoam box where the air exits the room and it made it so you cant even hear it unless you stand by it and listen for it

So if anyone wants to see how I made it PM me

and Ill take some pics

I'm thinking about moving the tent to a different corner of the room so there aren't as many bends in the ducting which will equal better cooling

Nice man finally someone else growing Kannabia Special. Attitude freebie I presume? I'm growing mine outside though. She's a little over 5' tall and has been flowering for at least 2 weeks now. Already seeing some resin production. Little more sativa in her than I was expecting.

When do you plan on flowering?

Im thinking around 4 feet or so. I want a decent harvest. but it depends on on my other 3 too. I want some pretty good sized plants.
I want my tent filled with leafs

If you wait til they are 4' tall to initiate flowering you will definitely out grow your 6' tent. Good rule of thumb is give yourself 1 foot for the pot, 1 foot for your light, plus 1 foot space between your light and the top of the plants. So that gives you about 3 feet of actually grow space in a 6' tent. Another thing to consider is that they will at least double in size from the time you switch to 12/12 to harvest.

Not trying to tell you what to do, it's your grow, just saying.

Oh and a little trick about transplanting from solo cups. You want the soil fairly dry, not wet. FFOF might act a little different, but with a peat based mix like promix I put the main stalk between my index and middle finger towards the base and turn the whole cup upside down. A few taps on the bottom and the whole thing usually slides right out completely intact. Have the new pot ready before hand.

Oh I didnt think they would grow that much more when I induce flowering

So maybe 3 feet then?

Well even at 3 feet tall you are still looking at 6' tall plants. I'd say 12-16". Even if I'm completely wrong and they don't stretch at all, you still only have about 3' of actually grow space in a 6' tent. Remember, you have to account for the height of the pots, the room the light takes up, plus the necessary space between the light and the plant.

Well on my first grow the tallest plant got to 15 inches. it stretched 1 inch lol
And it didnt grow any bud lol. idk i must have fucked up.
Do you think 20" would be good?
or is that still too big?

Well again... Not much has happened.
The last two weeks I have been looking for a local place to buy FoxFarm Ocean Forest Soil.

The normal place I buy it at has been out of stock.

So I found a place that sold it for a little cheaper about 17 dollars vs 23. so that's cool. :-P

but other then that all is same..except I see some little bugs every now and then...
I read somewhere that a mix of hemp soap, hydrogen peroxide, and rubbing alcohol would help kill them and keep them away.. I used my last little bit..
So I have to find the thread again.

I'm not sure why the Northern lights grows so slow. or if its me, or the strain, or idk.

If anyone else had a similar issue PLEASE let me know.

Well not too much has happened.

I did nute burn one of them a little bit nothing to serious.

And i did spray them with Neem oil, every now and then I kept seeing a little guy running around playing on the leaves :neutral:

1.) Northern Lights at day 33.Sammy is her name. The new growth of the FIMMED plant. looks like 3 new tops

2.) Same as the first just a full view.

3.)Kannabia Special At day 19. A few new leaves not much in 2 days.

4.)Northern Lights at day 33. somewhat grown.

5.) Northern Lights. day 19. super slow. I hope she speeds up.

It's probably slow cause you FIMMED it. It takes a while for it to recover from that, I also topped all my plants and I think it took about 1-1 1/2 weeks for them to start growing vigorously because I also transfered them shortly after toppping.
Lessons learned from being new, sometimes less is more for the plant.
everything looks good, don't try to speed up the process, before you know it you're out of room and trying to even out your canopy.
I think your plant is right on schedule don't worry, I said thank god for it being small because i'm growing some seeds in a 2x3x2 tent to have them ready to take clones when my current plants are done flowering.
I didn't want them to grow too big lol.

in my opinion you dont want your NL plant to grow tall, you want it bushy.
when I look at my NL I zone out on how many nugs are on the plant, it's amazing to be able to look into a bush and point at nug after nug after nug.
and I have about 14 good tops aswell instead of one big cola.

also, you don't want your shit to be 3 feet when you flower.
you would probably want 18 inches at the most 20.
I started my desert dream, mostly sativa, and she was at about 18 inches when I started flower.
She was also topped, and LST'd to refrain from getting to tall, she still hit about 3 1/2 feet.
it's better to have a little bit less plant and a little bit more space, than a lot more plant and no space, trust me.
if you have a lot of bud sites and whatnot bumping into eachother you wont get prime nugs.
my tent gets sucked in from negative pressure and it rubbs up on my plants which makes it hard to figure out placement and whatnot.

i'm rambling, done. lol.

Thanks man. very reassuring. but I only topped one. and its my biggest one. Lol. the other one thats the same age is small in comparison.
I guess is all patients.. but its hard when you have nothing better to do.

Im so excited so that feeling.

And Yea I was thinking between 16-20" but ill see how the other 3 plants do.
