Vegan Organic Green Crack = Vegan Crack

Happy New Year RIU, want to send a personal big up to everyone out there growing their own or aspiring to do so. And a sincere thank you to the organic growers. I'm attempting to journal a vegan organic indoor grow, even though my follow thru has been lacking in the past. But here it goes.

New Years Day 2011 - Day 1

I was blessed with 24 Green Crack cuttings. Also known as Lilikoi around here, I believe. The cuts (note: clone is the wrong term) were not looking so hot and were suffering from obvious overwatering. My cuts come in soil, something I value. Hence the possibility for overwatering. No rockwool allowed in my garden these days. 20 of the cuts were in soil starters, four were is oasis. All were planted in 1x1 pots of soil before Jah blessed me with them.

Here is the cuts as Jah gifted them to me:

Here is the veg tent:

Here is the transplant set-up:

Then the girls get some much needed light and love:

They are already perking up, except for the one in the back right corner. That one may get composted.

The media is BioTerra Plus with about 10% grade 3 perlite (fox farm big n chunky). I mixed in some "root web" from the bountea brew kit as an additional inoculant. I wet the media with carbon filtered tap water that sits out at room temp for a day or two.

I want to point something out about Root Web. Root Web from Bountea is basically the same thing as any of the other inoculants (myco madness, great white, plant success, AN's tarantula & pirana, sub-culuture). There is a list of a bunch of endomyco, some bacteria, and a couple trichoderma. The usual suspects including a bunch of Glomus species.

BUT root web, unlike the other products, claims their inoculant only needs to be used once, at the start of growing. The other inoculants say they should be used continually. Why the different directions from basically the same product? IMVHO the directions on root web are for true soil, outside. And the other inoculants are labeled for hydro and soil-less media.
----------------------------------------------
so what nutrients you going to use & how will you prep them?
I have a giant thread here about how I grow specifically.
https://www.rollitup.org/organics/364864-vegan-organics-professor-matt-veganics.html
But that is hella long so I'm going to lay it all out here. I've been working with Kyle Kushman on developing indoor vegan organics. This will be my fifth round of veganics, and I am going as simple and inexpensive as possible.

My veg room is a tent turned on its side, with an 8-bank of T-5s. I have on a thermostat to cool when heat builds up in there. Ill add a circulation fan when the plants are better rooted. Right now they are recovering from a week overwatered and under lit (went home for xmas and babies were ready).

I run BioCanna nutes (vega, flores, bioboost, cannazyme, and rhizotonic). With a good amount of organic molasses and compost tea. I also use way too many other products, that I am going to cut out and/or use as little as possible.

My garden closet also includes:
Humic acid (liquid form)
Fulivc acid (huvega, also Magnesium Sulfate)
Nature's Nectar N (soy)
Humbolt Nutes 0-10-0 Natural Bloom (soft rock phosphate based)
Technaflora soluble seaweed 1-1-16 (good micronutes too)
Wet Betty organic (lol at the label)
Hygrozyme
Myco madness, white widow, great white, myan microzyme
Calcium - liquid
Epsom salt (for Mg and Sulfur)
Thrive Alive, green label. 1-1-1

As for prep. I'll be posting about specific techniques. At this age, and state, I'll predict I can start giving "chiropractic treatments" in two weeks, which I will attempt to document. It will be easier to show when they are larger. I twist the main stem between nodes to "pop" the inside of the plant, a knuckle forms if you do it right.

This leads to my medical grow room and the Green Crack. The room is 7 ft tall and I grow in pots on trays raised about a foot. I have to keep my sativas SHORT, which is no problem if I keep up on the breaking and bending. The damage does slow down growth, and is stress, but I do it for all sativa varieties. Not so much for naturally bushy plants, I usually grow Kushes. Indicas are the opposite, and I tend to encourage certain parts to stretch.

Really looking forward to watching this. My ladies are just popping roots so the timing is perfect for a grow along!
:) grow along, lol

did you mean 8 t5's? or a 8 light fixture? t5's are seriously underrated- they work marvels for shorter grows. guy on seriousseeds.com is flowering a copulas amount of aks with them, all look stellar.
Yes, an 8 light fixture, it is pictured second. T-5 for veg is great IMO. Less heat issues, nice broad growth. If you look closely you will see the T-5 fixture is on springs, just something I've been wanting to test... earthquake proofing the garden.

Are you saying they are using T-5 alone to flower? That's a 'serious scrog' if you ask me :)

Lookin good matt. How ya likin that white widow? You prefer it over great white?
Hey thanks. It is FIM time! They are healthy enough and about to explode. I hear Green Crack likes to bush out... perfect for my low ceilings. But contrarily I've heard that GC likes to stretch, and that there are multiple crosses of GC (aka Cush) that are also called GC. lol at the weed world :)

I like the Widow. From what I've read the bacteria and trichoderma in Great White (and other mixed inoculants) may inhibit myco colonization in roots. So I like to go Widow early, then switch to mixed inoculants (and ACT) once root bound. It's almost that time. I'm kinda ahead of myself and have another few weeks to keep these GC cuts in the tent... waiting for Jack to finish.

Here is today's log so far. Flower room is on in a few hours.
1/14/2011
Green Crack:
Temp: 65 night, 75 day
RH: 60%+ (24/7)
Neemed: 1 hour after "lights on"
Fed: 2 gallons, 6mL/gal Vega, pinch Widow, 5 mL molasses, 15mL/gal Rhizotonic

Jack: stinking up a storm. 25 days to go.
Temp: On: high 84, Off: low 69
RH: 47% (24/7)

Nice grow man, I have a Green Crack in flower (2 weeks) that has the same exact leaf structure to it. It's funny to see people on the east coast growing "green crack."

Looking good man, I'm running green crack right now as well, I have a 400watt scrog in my closet, 2 plants. I've grown this strain a couple times before and you'll fall in love with it.
They really don't stretch too much compared to alot of other sativas, from my experience they bush out like crazy and have ridiculous amounts of budsites.
I LOVE the smell of the flowers on this strain, right now my current batch is between week 4 and 5 of flower. Its a lovely citrus smell with a tinge of sweetness at the end, in fact my light turns on in about 15 minutes so I really can't wait to smell them lol
I have noticed that they can be finicky when being grown, they don't like being topped, for some reason they take a super long time to recover from the shock. FIMMING on the other hand hardly has much of an effect on them. Expect your babies to triple in size during flower, not so much in height but in all around bushiness.
I'll show you a few pics of mine in case you want to see.

Rize up! norcal bredren. Here is some info on the Green Crack
Green Crack is Cush, which I think originated in Georgia if I am not mistaken(if I am someone please chime in). It came out west and was renamed Green Crack(something to do with Snoop Dog or some BS like that) because of the speedy high that it gives. It is also very short flowering time for a sativa dom plant. I can pull it at 50 days if done right but right at 8 weeks is the best.
Cush aka Green Crack is skunk #1 crossed with a sweet leaf indica from athens, georgia so the story goes. Snoop Dogg supposedly gave it the nickname Green Crack. It has an insanely sweet candy smell, stays short and bushy, and flowers very fast. I think a lot of people knock this strain because most build a tolerance to it very quickly. I notice this is common with most skunk strains or dominant skunk crosses though, for me at least
GC is a very greasy bud. It's amazing how much resin it packs on, and even more amazing is how early it gets frosty, as the Rock mentioned above, about 2 weeks into 12/12 for me too. She stinks like heaven. Candy-ish smell, with all of the Super Skunk in her lineage.
Green Crack was bred by Cecil in Georgia, supposidly named by Snoop, and is a cross of Super Skunk x Unknown Haze.
Seeds of clone only plants rarely live up to their parents' legend, unfortunately. I'm sure it will be great smoke, but GC is unlike anything I've grown before.
It's like a fucking hard-boiled egg tree by day 55. Decent yielder as well.

Green Crack was an 89 SSSC skunk#1 crossed with an unknown indica in athens ohio in about 1990. It was indeed made by cecilC. Cecil is the kind of guy who would'nt want to take credit for making it as it was just a random cross. The part about MrGreenBeans was pretty acurrate. Only mrgreenbeans was'nt living anywhere near georgia. He had people that were bringing him pounds of Green Crack aka Cush and he loved it and wanted to grow it. He kept trying to get clones from these guys and they would always say no.

Eventually for the price of $2,500 he was able to get a clone of it. Those georgia guys, mrgreenbeans and CecilC all call it Cush with a C not to be confused with Kush. I think when mrgreenbeans got the clone it was around 94.

Cecils old friends that had the Cush still he stopped talking to for reasons and was'nt in that area anymore. Another old user some of you may remember named Bunz had this plant out in southern cali that was not named but he was selling herb to snoop dog if you believe the story(but bunz was'nt one to make shit up), was selling herb to snoop dog and snoop named it green crack. Years later, I met mrgreenbeans on a canadian IRC chat client and invited him to come chat at truestoners. He did and he and cecil kicked it off and the three of us met up and exchanged clones. At the same time or rather right before then, cecil got Bunz to send him clones of green crack and a few others and the green crack and the Cush are identicle. Now as everyone knows I used to send out tons of clones/cuttings constantly and the green crack aka Cush was one that I sure had a big hand in spreading out. Sometimes newbies in chat bitch about me hoarding shit, but anyone who thinks that has'nt a clue. Look how many folks out there have some of my old strains now. CecilC was the same way though he was a bit paranoid about sending out and sometimes would take forever to do it, but he honestly is and was very much against hoarding, thinking that everyone should grow the best possible. So green crack aka Cush sure got spread around a bunch. I have heard folks saying that her structure looks like old skunk#1 or super skunk, but it is not, it is what it is, just apprears very similliar, but hell let's think about it super skunk = skunk#1 x afgani, Cush/green crack = skunk#1 x indica, same basic theory of a cross. She is very fast flowering, the fastest by far that I have ever seen from the approximatly 200 strains that I have grown. She has this super sweet like sickly sweet candy fruit taste and smell. She is a good one for sure. She is not my favorite, I find that with those types of fast sativa doms I build a fast tolerance, of course everyone else gets ripped from it. I think she is decently potent, not schrom or OG kush, but not weak by any means. Well that's the story if anyone has any questions shoot. peace

I'm with stink here, from what I understand Green Crack is a clone only strain, well, here in California anyways.

Thanks for the info btw, I sit and research all the strains I have as well, gets boring sometimes between looking at the plants. The Green Crack here around Los Angeles smells like mango with a slight citrus twinge, quite sweet. The citrus smell is sort of hard to describe as it's shadowed by the sweet mango taste but I liken it to pineapple.

Got this subbed and I'll try to start updating my GC more so you can watch the same plant a few weeks ahead.
