So after much consideration, I have decided to journal my first grow. I thought that since this is my first time it may be beneficial to show other what I am doing and perhaps have more success based on others assistance and observations.
So here goes ......
Plants - Purple Kush from seed (apparently feminized)
Cabinet - 2 chambers, each are 36"wide, 40"tall and 18" deep. I am going to veg all 4 in one chamber until I start to LST and then I will move so there are 2 plants in each chamber to flower. Cabinet is in my bedroom closet as it needs to be as stealthy as possible as there are curious minds in my house :) So far so good, fans are silent, no light leaks and the Cabinet IS locked just in case !!
Lights - Initially 6 X 26W CFL @ 6500K and will switch to 42W @ 2700K for flower above and move the 26W(6500) down the sides.
Ventilation - Currently one 80cfm in and one 80cfm out but currently I am supplementing temps with Ice until I change my set up. I am in the process of changing to putting both 80cfm fans to exhaust on the top of he cabinet and turning intake into passive. From the top, I ma going to run 6" ducting through the roof in a closet to exhaust into the attic with a 250cfm boost fan at the end. This should take care of my heat issues.
Temps - Currently averaging about 78 degrees with highs around 85 and lows around 74. With the exhaust situation currently I am having to make adjustments all the time to keep these temps in check. At the start there were a couple of time where the heat got away on me and went to over 90 degrees. One small fans blowing over ice to keep temps down and larger fan circulating air in the cabinet.
Time Line - Seeds Germinated on December 11th, planted December 12th, Broke soil on December 13th, transplanted into 2 gallon pots today December 23rd.
Light Cycle - 24/0 and I plan on keeping this cycle until I start to flower.
Nutes - None yet as cotyledons are just coming off now but will start with PlantLife Grow Nutes in the next day or two.
Water - RO water with ph between 6.5 and about 6.8
Ok so here are the pics of the whole deal from Cabinet build to where we are currently. Any and ALL input, advice, or sarcasm is welcome and appreciated.
Peace :peace:

Update Time !! Things seem to be going along quite well I think (please let me know if you agree or disagree). Babies are exactly 3 weeks from germination and 19 days from popping through the soil. Planning on starting nutes today and after watering, I am going to take my first crack at LST'ing them. LOTS of undergrowth that I would like to get some light to.
I would welcome any comments, suggestions or criticism as this is my first go-round and I want to make sure some people with experience can keep me on the right track.
Thanks is advance folks !
Peace:peace:

I'd be interested to see how your ventilation works out for you. I think you might be under ventilated. I see you mentioned changing it, but using PC fans, they don't move much air. I like that you are switching to a passive intake, but I still don't think you will be circulating 5 times your volume with those fans.

In my setup, I didn't notice it as much a problem until my plants got bigger, then I could see the plants responding more to the crappy ventilation. I'm not an authority by any means, just a thought.

Thanks Pelt ! You are absolutely correct about my exhaust. It is NOT enough so that is why i am changing it. I am going to take the intake fan, combine it with the exhaust fan so there will be 2 PC fans exhausting each chamber. They will exhaust into a 6" duct running straight out the top of the cabinet into my attic. At the end of the duct (in the attic) there will be a 250cfm boost fan mounted to draw air. I think this combination should take care of the issue. I will see what the smell is like once I start to flower and perhaps put a carbon scrubber on the end as well. I have one built but have not tried it. My attic has 3 of those "whirley birds" on the roof to draw air out of the attic so it may not be an issue at all.
Thanks again for the input. I briefly looked at your Journal and I am about to go back and check it A LOT closer. Very nice work from what I have seen already.
Peace

Hey Man, That's a top notch effort for your first grow, sure makes mine look 'ghetto'.
Those plants are really beautiful so far too, I love how they are so squatt and becoming bushy already.
I'll be following this for sure. I'll be away from the computer for a time but I'm subbed and keen to copy the cabinet, as well as seeing the buds develop.

Good luck with it all bro,
Yarndi

Thanks Yarndi. I was told by my guy that I got the beans from that they grow short and bushy as hell. EXACTLY what I am looking for in this cabinet. As it looks right now, the tops are so tight I doubt I will be able to top them as I had initially planned. I will likely move two into the lower cabinet when it comes time to flower, just to give me some more working room. I think It would be way to cramped to try flower 4 in one chamber.
I Sure hope they take well to the nutes started last night. 12 hours or so and they are still happy so I think all is good.
Later Man
Peace
