NEW GROWER using CFL's!

Hi thanks for visiting my journal, here I will describe what im doing step by step, as well as explain my methods and processes to obtain the final result product we all seek, dank sweet nugs!

So far my Veg space is 1.5ft wide, 4 ft long, which will hold 3 beautiful mothers in which i will take clones from. My perferred method of growing will be SOG(sea of green).

I plan to have a plant exchange of around every 2 weeks, pullling and putting in, in those time periods.

My flower box is 3 ft tall, 20 inches wide, 15 inches deep, which roughly give me 1.5sqft. Im using 6 warm white, 2700k CFL's at 2600 lumens, (upgrading soon to 5800 lumens) per bulb, equalling 15600 lumens in that box, should be plenty. although the newer bulbs will give me alot more lumens per sq ft. once those arrive in the mail.

The Veg area is 1.5ft x 4 ft. which will house 3 mothers, currently 2, with 2 CFLs under each plant. Right now i have 4 5000k, 2150 lumen lights under them, but upgrading to 4200 lumen bulbs shortly, which should give excellent growth and regrowth rate after cuttings.

Im using Bionicare nutrients: CNS17 grow/bloom, both around 10$ish per quart which is great cuz it doesnt take much to make your nutrient solution to feed. You may want to use different brands, its up to you, this is what was suggested for excellent vegetative and flowering stages.

Limited by space, i only am letting them be topped at 18 inches, then monitoring more top growth to keep them short, according to room available. using a soil mixture right now, but soon to switch to coco peat, to have an inert nutrient free soil, an add my own blend of nutrients.

As a new grower, i have read and asked tons of questions and received lots of information, alot which is similar to each other, all helpful, everybit of it. Like i always say, its easy to grow pot, its hard to grow good pot.

This is my first post, i will make more journal entries, if i can remember, as frequently as i can, also posting any problems or questions as well, hopefully i get some good feedback and responses to have a great harvest and grow!

Right now i have 2 plants, Geisel (G13 x Sour Diesel) and Banana Kush (unsire of origins)

2 Things ive noticed, 1 from each plant, First the BK has shown signs of leaf malproduction and malformation. Some leaves have only 3 fingers, one has 2 fingers, and a smaller leaf has shown 6 fingers. Reading numerous posts about same problem, ive noticed its just the way it grows and will equalize or continue to grow "retarded" leaves with less than 5 fingers each. So far i am assuming its not detrimental to the plant life and growth.
2nd ive noticed yellowing and brown spots on some leaves, all over top to bottom of the plant, in some spots. Not many leaves, but a couple to concern about. One leaf shown dried greenish papery edges, but most are yellowing or brown spots, Here are a few images of the leafs removed from the plant.

Hey man, nice setup! I can't wait to see that little box produce some frosty ladies. I'm subscribed~

Also, use the 'insert image' feature when writing on the thread so we don't have to keep clicking links to see what's up.

Just transplanted my 2 plants to 3 gallon containers, and replaced soil with cocopeat, good to go now!

You won't be disappointed with that coco. I switched recently and I'm never going back, you just cant beat how coco doesn't retain as much water as soil. Also, coco retains up to 30% of its volume in oxygen, great for them roots.

How's that little space looking with such big pots now? Pictures!

I used Dutch Glory's Cash Crop coco, its really great! stays moist in the bag, doesnt clump up much, breaks up easy and finely. Ive heard the compressed brick of coco that expands with water isnt as refined, has larger chunks, and retains more moisture then it should. Canna Coco Coir is great stuff to use as well!

I'm using the same shit bro! It's seems just like Canna only 5 bucks cheaper per bag. Still RHP certified, flushed and PH buffered while adding calcium and magnesuim. This company also adds trichoderma and other bennies to the soil just like Canna does. Can't go wrong bro

Coco pretty much is a hydroponic media. In my opinion it's an even better media than hydroton. It retains the great factor of soil where you can maintain a beneficial bacteria colony and is inert so you add all of your own nutes.

Check this youtube user: http://www.youtube.com/user/sublbc

He uses Coco as a hydroponic medium in an ebb and flow system. SICK grower with amazing knowledge and the results to back it up.

Looks like HMK has a small box to use, where the heck would all of the hydroponic equipment fit?

I wish i had the space to grow hydro, i definetly would. A few friends of mine who used to grow used hydro and say the same thing, go hydro. Space is an issue as well as fundage, so i did the best i could for what i had.

So im looking at my Geisel and noticing a few yellowing leaves, probably about 5-6 total, only the bigger older leaves (giesel seems to grow smaller leaves than normal plants). Ive only given it half nutrients, hygrozyme, root builder, super thrive, and 6.0ph water, wondering what might cause this to happen? any suggestions or advice, please post!

Just measured the plants, so far after clone taking off the Giesel, she's sprouted 1 inch back in growth, and the BK, in 8 days, has put on about 3 inches of height. Tomorrow I get some new CFL's that are about 3x the power of what i have now ^^.
