Mr and Mrs Riffix' Cali Hashplant Grow

Hello and welcome to our grow journal! This is our first grow, so please feel free to add comments and suggestions

This being our first grow, we are taking the opportunity to experiment as much as possible and compare by doing. That being said, after reading through some books, we decided to sow our first seeds directly into peat pellets as opposed to germinating first in paper towel. Apparently, seedlings brought up this way will be healthier than seeds that are germinated before planting, but obviously you will have a longer wait before seeing any action this way (if seeing anything at all) To start, we planted 2 Cali Hashplant and 1 A-Train we received as a freebie. Within 4-5 days we had our first little Cali Hash sprout poke it's way out of the soil. It was probably a week or week and a half after that, we still had nothing from the other two so decided to investigate. We took out the seeds and the Cali Hash fell apart in hubby's hands and appeared to be moldy on the inside. It's hard to know for sure whether or not the seed was good in the first place, but I suspect they had a bit too much water. The A-Train showed no signs of splitting, so we decided to try germinating it in paper towel along with the remaining 3 Cali Hash seeds we had. It took one day for one Cali Hash and two days for the other 2 to germinate. The A-Train germinated one day after those, so we were very happy to salvage it!

We transferred the 4 seeds into peat pellets, however one of the Cali Hash split a bit too much before we planted it and ended up coming completely out of the shell. I decided to plant it anyway and within a couple days all 4 have sprouted :D Unsure whether the deshelled plant will be all wonky later on, but at the moment it is a very healthy seedling!

Our first Cali Hash has recently been potted, but left in the sunlight so it doesn't get too far ahead of the others. The other 4 are still in propogators until we pot them and will put them all under light together. The soil mix we are using contains organic peat-free vegetable composte, perlite and vermiculite. We will be using Bio-Bizz nutes, but are not feeding them yet. Our main grow area will be inside a large wooden wardrobe with a 400w HPS light. We will likely use more than just the one bulb for future grows, but are keeping it fairly simple for now.

I think that about catches up to where we are now, so here are some pics!

This is the first Cali Hash currently... probably about 1 1/2-2 weeks old. Should be bigger, but like I said we have decided to just keep it under sunlight so it doesn't get too far ahead of the others :)

Finally, this is the last for now... today is day 3 for the 3 Cali Hash and 1 A-Train, counting day 1 as the day they popped out of soil. We will be using this timeline for all the plants together.

Ooo that sounds nice, are you going to do a journal as well? I agree, it's cool to find people that are at about the same stage, even better when they are experienced growers! Haha, I'm excited to have plenty, right now we have none, blah! Can't wait to get the ball rolling and get that first harvest under our belts... I'm so over the combo of not being able to find it and having bags that don't weigh out or just shit weed! Thanks and good luck to you on your grow as well!

Hey guys :) We have them under the HPS in their new wardrobe, just have to get the hubby to attach the 2nd door lol. 2 of the little ones seem to have gotten quite warm in there (quite dried out), but the new leaves coming in seem ok so hopefully they'll get better. We brought the light up a little bit, so maybe that will help. The fan in the room is a bit on the broken side, trying to figure out what to get to fix it, but it hasn't seemed too warm with the window opened. I'll update with some pics tomorrow

(Day 10) Right, so here are some pics! Sorry the lighting is not so great, the light won't be turning off til later.

Here is the wardrobe we are growing in, still a bit of work to do to it. The inside cabinet is about 56" high, 28.5" wide by 19.75" deep. Currently, the light is raised 16-17" above the top of the plants after raising it up a bit yesterday. I guess it was too close for a couple of the plants, though I had my hand under there and it didn't seem too hot at the time.

We have 5 little ones, Angel is our freebie A-Train and the others all Cali Hash. The one older Cali Hash is Mary Jane... yes I know that's dorky, but it's still a nice name and it seemed appropriate for our first plant lol. Daisy is another of our Cali Hash, named that for being dropped by hubby during the first potting. Daisy and Angel have suffered the worst damage, both having very dried out leaves. The new leaves seem to be ok though so hopefully they will grow past it, but they look pretty sad right now! The last two Cali Hash are Yuna and Yuffi. Yuna has a few spots on her leaves as well, but ok other than that. Mary Jane seems to be loving having lots of light.

Advice and suggestions welcome! :-P

kat your light seems way too close with hps its not always the heat you can feel when you put your hands buy the plants that causes the damage for sum reason they dry out even if its not that hot when the light is too close, i like the set up a wardrobe is exactly how im doing my indoor at the moment altho iv just got my hands on £2000+ worth of grow equip for next time so im lookin forward too settin it all up, if i remember right your seeds were germinated about the same time as mine but your plants seem a lot smaller than mine so i was wondering wot your feedin if anythin yet an how regular you water?
are thay in soil?
iv just put a pic of my plants on so you can see what i mean all the black potted plants are the same age as yours an the 5 yellow potts are a week younger
also "i" personally would trim off the burnt leaves but id ask a few others for there apinion first as im not that experienced
good luck
