3rd grow - GDP, Blue Rhino, NL#5, Lemon Kush

My previous grow was some GDP and BR in my closet, under 400w in an ebb/flow system. I revegged the plants after harvest and farmed quite a few clones from them, and currently have 5 GDP and one BR in bubble buckets. I built a 6x6x4 cabinet, and bought a 1000w system.

I got some Northern Lights #5 seeds, only ended up with 3 females and they all started to suffer from root rot from being in the hot closet. They've since been recovering, I took some cuttings for clones from the biggest plant just in case. I also popped a few Lemon Kush seeds I got from some bud from the club. I had 5 at one time, but most of them died when I let them go too long without water. The one remaining seedling was the strongest, now I just hope it turns out female.

I plan on building another cab for flowering, so they won't all have to be on the same schedule anymore. When a plant is ready to flower I'll just move it over and the others will follow when their time arrives.

Here are some pics I took today of the grow. I tied a few of them down LST style, I used LST in my first grow and SCROG in my 2nd and had great results both times.

The Blue Rhino is still impressive, showing bigger/faster growth than all of the GDP. I got roughly twice as much bud from the BR than the GDP on the last grow. The biggest cola weighed 90g wet, dried to around 17g. The GDP had tastier nugs but not as much yield, can't wait to see what happens this time.

There are 2 GDP that are also coming along nicely (albeit with some burned tips)

The other 3 GDP are starting off a little slower but are still showing new growth. The last one seems to just now finally be revegging again, a few of my clones for some reason started to flower even though they didn't get any darkness :cuss:

Today I started tying the plants down LST style. I just drilled the screws into the lid (sealed w/ silicone to prevent leaks/rust/etc) and used garden twist ties to pull the branches down. I pulled a little too much on one and busted a branch, oh well. They're still a bit short to start LSTing them but I'm trying to keep them as short as possible anyways. I like bush

You can see the Lemon Kush seedling in the pics as well, the little one to the right.

That gigantic "clone" in the left tray was air layered, meaning it grew roots on the mother plant before being cut ;-)

This is how the roots looked just before I cut it from the mother. All I did was scrape/cut away the outer layer of the branch and wrap the wound with rooting hormone and a rockwool cube. I was flushing the mother plants for a good while and started adding nutes to the air layer cube, enticing the roots to come out. I did this same technique for one of the plants of my 2nd grow, as you can see you can take pretty big cuttings complete with their own root system already growing. I have a few more in progress but they aren't really showing any progress after a couple of weeks. Then again I've been feeding the mother plants again, I may have to cut it back to flushing to try to get them to root.

Got a new strain yesterday, Blue Sky Cotton Candy :D

IMG_3822_Medium_.JPG

It's apparnently an 80/20 sativa dominant strain, which is exactly what I wanted. The other strains I have are all mostly or completely indica, I've developed a liking for sativa and wanted to see how small I could keep one in my system. I've got a big cube soaking right now, into which this plug will go and then it can go under the 1000w and into a bubble bucket :D :D :D

From what I could find, the strain is from Oaksterdam and is a mix of Mendo Purps and Sweet Pink Greatfruit.

The GDP directly under the light are gettin huge. After training them I swapped them with the outer plants to try to get them to catch up a lil.

The Cotton Candy is also doing well, it's got some nice roots already. I topped it and there are at least 3 tops, maybe 4 up top.

Another example of bending my ladies to my will :)

Since the plants are gettin so damn big, I started building the 2nd cab yesterday. I'll probably use this one for veg and put the 400w in there; in the original cab, I'll switch the light to HPS and 12/12 and start flowering the bigger plants in there.

Got the 2nd cab almost completely built. Gotta run power and put up some doors, that's bout it. Gotta wait til I get paid again to get the air pumps, fans etc I need in order to start flowering some of these ladies.

They've got a ridiculous number of branches comin off, I gotta start cuttin clones again :D

Cool grow man, im running a GDP too. How long do you veg them for usually? I grew them once before, real good smoke but a little short on the scale. How much do you usually get off 1 plant? Keep growin good dope.

I don't have any usual numbers, I've only grown it once before. I veg them for as long as I need to to get them the size I want. I like to keep them super short and spread them out, once they're as horizontal as possible I may let them grow up a little bit before switching. I don't want to keep them too long in veg cuz I want them short, but with the indicas I shouldnt have to worry too much about height. The CC though is mostly sativa and is already pretty stretchy, it's gonna catch up quickly. I don't yet have the flowering cab ready yet, though. Still have to run power in there and get fans n such, prob next weekend

Got the veg cab up and running :D

I've got the NL and the CC in there now. Still gotta get fans in there.

Here's the NL I topped twice

Here's a week's progress  I've finally finished changing the water over for them all, changed the MH to HPS and set the lights to be on from 8pm to 8am. They're so bushy I don't know if I have enough room anymore

IMG_3870_Medium_.JPG

I cut a few clones from the GDP and BR to be flowered, as well as some NL and CC. Here's to 100% rooting :weed: lol

those girls r gunna get BIG man. i cant wait to see them. did u switch ur nutes over to flowering?? if so u should keep her on the veg nutes few a week into flower fer the stretch phase.

well just remember mike, u need nitrogen (a decent amount) for the first week to support the stretch, its needed for space to get them BIG old buds in there.

i usually keep them one the veg nutes a week into flowering then begin to switch, i feed a 1/4-1/6 of a dose of veg nutes in the diet
to keep the foliage gree.
