400W Kush Grow

It's my first grow, situated in a 2ft x 2ft x 5ft tool storage closet from Walmart.

I started the seeds outside in Mid-August (I live in Quebec), and brought them inside after 5 weeks of growth. I put them in the container, and added two 75W sylvania blue plant growing lights. covering the walls in white cloth.

Eventually, my plant started to wilt. I diagnosed it as a two fold problem. #1 was acidic soil, #2 being the plant outgrowing the 1 gallon container.

Upon diagnosing the acidic soil that container issue, i set out to get a bigger bucket, while adding epsom salts to my water in an attempt to level the PH of the soil.

At the same time, i decided on getting some nutrients for my plant, and headed to the local hydroponic shop.

While there, the astute salesman sold me on getting a 430W HPS setup. I got the nutrients for Veg and Flower, along with some white/black plastic.

For my pot, i switched to a 5 gallon paint bucket. I hit the plant with 3 weeks of Veg under the HPS, while attempting to clone. I took 25 cuttings over the 3 weeks, eventually having 2 survivors.

After slightly over 3 months of veg, i switched over to flowering. I cut my final clippings for clones, and then switched it over. I also added a 1shot nutrient boost to my nutrient solution.

The resulting effect caused the plant to explode, and pushed it dangerously close to my light, in fact burning the top of the plant.

To counter, i cut the bottom out of my container, and raised it 1 ft higher by putting my bucket through the bottom. This proved to be a temporary fix

The plant kept growing, and eventually stood 6 feet tall including the bucket.

I considered my options (moving the light higher was not an option), and decided on tying down my 3 main colas. I made duct tape rope, and tied them down about 1 ft from the top, fastening the rope the the handle of my bucket.

The plant had been growing for 4 months now, 3 weeks into flowering. Some of the lower shoots, really started to bloom

My baby has been flowering for 5 weeks now, and this is where the journal catches up.

During week 4 of flowering, i gave it a second of dose of the flowering boost that i administered during week 2.

She was smelling a bit musty today, but i'm attributing that to the biggest cola being pressed against the wall. It's moist against the wall. Luckily, i had just rotated the plant to put this cola in the corner farthest from my light. I loosened my duct tape rope, and she pulled away from the wall. I'm hoping problem solved.

She looks like many plants, but is only 1 kush plant in a 5 gallon bucket, small enclosure, 430W HPS. I do not have ventilation, apart from some holes cut in to the top of the cabinet.

Let me know what you think. She's just started her 5th month of growth, 5th week of flower.

Nice looking tree ! How are the plants taking being so close to the lights ?

I run into problems when the plant gets within 6 inches of the light, so i try to keep it pulled to the side. The majority of the problems occur directly under the light, but by pulling them to the sides it stops it from drying out and burning.

So is pulling them to the sides making the buds get bigger ?:hump: Cuz im not sure if i will top mine or just one cola and pull it to the side like yourself... Hard to choose to cuz you read so many different opinions on here.. !

Pulling it to the sides hasnt affected my bud growth, it may have improved it, as it caused all of the flowers which were fighting for light to be put on a horizontal plane. So now, instead of battling the main cola for their light, they all get a full blasting of it.

Planning on taking her off of the nutrients to start the new year, looking at a 4 week flush

you could keep feeding it bloom nutes for 2 more weeks and flush for the last 2 weeks, that should be plenty of time ? and might help maximize your yield.. i dont think it needs a full month of flushing to get the nutes out? i'm not positive, but maybe someone else can help ..

Well, after 8 days of flushing with pure water, my main cola has finally started to bud. This puts it a good 4 weeks behind the other colas (I lollipopped it).

I've decided to try to push it for 6 more weeks of flowering as the result, with the plan to cut it down on February 24th, 6 months after it first went in to the ground. This would give it 3 months of veg, 3 months of flower.
