Second Cabinet Grow, CFL's for Veg, Hydro in future?

Hey guys, i've been lurking here for a little while, but this is the second grow i've had. Same cabinet, i made some improvements from having just 3 lamps in there to a Christmas tree kinda thing with 3 100W DayLight CFLs and 1 75W CFL (which i'll change to another 100W Daylight soon), with reflective paneling, a thermometer, and what i'm most proud of...my first soil mix! 1/3 organic potting soil, 1/3 MG Perlite, 1/3 MG Shagnum Peat Moss. Looks and feels a lot better than anything i've used this far. I just transplanted my five plants out of Rockwoll cubes into that soil mix before these pictures were taken. They're about 3 weeks old now, as you can see the one is REALLY taking off nicely and the others are just starting up, but we'll see what happens. Anyway advice/comments welcome!

:joint:

oh almost forgot, i'm thinking about moving these guys into a hydro drip system either halfway through vegetative stage or right at the beginning of flowering. It'll be my first hydro setup so any advice is appreciate, i don't want to switch them over to hydro and have them die!

bumping this up!

anybody have any advice on something else to add to my soil mix other than potting soil, sphagnum moss and perlite? Nutrients? Something else? I just wanna make sure the little guys are getting enough nutrients

Updates, added 9 new seedling (3 in each of the new red Solo cups), and another 8 little sprouts from my roommate that popped up from throwing beans into his plant in his room lol I'm going to top all of these when their 5th branch sets show up, wish me luck.

Decided i'm not going hydro this time around, sticking to soil and i'm going to experiment with some different ingredients like blood/bone meal, worm castings, guano, etc with flowering to see what happens, i'm also trying out some Big Bloom nutes on my flowering guys when hte time comes. Also purchasing a 250W HPS for flowering, which i think will do the job just fine for me.

UPDATE:

now up to 24 little boys growing. I figure theyre not all going to survive or be female, so i know its a lot of plants for a small area but they're growing just fine.

The two big ones are doing great, i topped both of them a few days ago so hopefully they dont get too tall.

Also confirmed going 250W or 400W HPS for flower, in a soil mix of 1/5 vermiculite, 1/5 perlite, 1/5 potting soil, 1/5 worm castings, 1/5 sphagnum peat moss, with helping of bone meal, maybe some sand, and then Big Bloom nutes.

first thing i would do is switch out that redish hue CFL for the brighter white ones like on the left of the first pic. plants look healthy tho man, check my log out.

BIG UPDATE!

ORDERED A 400W HPS FROM HTG SUPPLY! WOO!

Also the flowering soil is going to be:

- 1 part vermiculite
- 1 part perlite
- 1 part sphagnum peat moss
- 1 part worm castings
- 1 part organic potting soil
- 1/2 part Bone Meal

- Big Bloom nutrients every other watering

And update on the veggies, I've topped 5 or them now, started giving them Miracle Grow All Purpose Nutrients (24-8-16) every other water, and they have all really started to take off since i started the nutes a few days ago.

got all four 100W Daylights in there now, all 4 of the Cali bud seeds are sprouting up and i'm going to switch my two biggest plants to flower in a bout a week.

Right now i'm mixing a big batch of flowering soil as well, perlite, vermiculite, potting soil, sphagnum peat moss, bone meal, and worm castings. Woot

TO DO LIST:

buy chains, hooks (for HPS), a tarp, velcro (to close off flowering room)

and order Fox Farm ocean forest off the internet since we don't have it around here, buy bag of vermiculite, bag of bone meal, mix flower soil, and then flower these babies woooo

since i'm going to be moving around this summer i think it'll be pretty hard to maintain a mother plant so i think i'm just going through the cycle with all of these, maybe keep a small clone but not trying to keep a mother plant. Although all 4 of the Cali bud seeds that have sprouted are doing great...hmm...we'll see

ALL COMMENTS ARE WELCOME!

set up the HPS in a closet for the flowering stage to start in a few weeks, also found a local store that carries Fox Farm Ocean Forest, vermiculite and various other stuff that i couldn't find anywhere else around here, real happy.

Plan of action is:

Started flowering 2 days ago, i'm doing this until they show sex, i can eliminate the males, then im switching back to veg until i can get all my flowering stuff set up and ready to go, and also give them some time to grow a bit more.

Been pruning and nuting them when needed, as you can see they're doing great!

Been a while, huge update! Picked up some new pots and some Ocean Forest, transferred my plants over to the HPS after vegging for the last 10 days and eliminating any of the males i can find. Good news is i have an OBVIOUS sativa thats a FEMALE!! The other plant that's been the biggest since hte beginning (check old pictures) is a female as well, and most of the other have showered their pistols as well.

there are two pots with one large plant and one smaller one, and then the largest orange pot as like 6 plants in it lol In the future i will NOT do that any more, i highly recommend against it, but you learn more with every grow :)

so they've been in the HPS closet for over a week now and htey are LOVING IT! We had two smaller plants die when we tried to seperate them, and there have been 5 males so far, but other than that we have 7 or 8 guratnateed females showing bud

and the veg cabinet just has 3 little plants which are DANK Cali Bud. I'm wishing them luck, but much much more excited about the flowering closet. I plan on being able to smoke them by the end of february.

and pictures. they've grown a lot since these pictures, i'll update soon

ahhh, i've been waiting for this :) pics just now of the ladies:

oh, and another one of mine has showed pistils, so that makes it....5 guaranteed females for me, one in question because ist the runt and isn't showing, and at least 7 guaranteed females for my roomate (like 5 are in the big orange pot lol), and two questionable runts still.
